HBO: The Tale Of Marvin Hagler vs. Thomas Hearns Part 1/6

Uploaded by: mrbumpandgrind

Video Stream Description:
The War was the nickname given by promoter Bob Arum to boxing's world Middleweight championship superfight bout between Undisputed Champion Marvin Hagler and challenger Thomas Hearns, who was himself the world's Jr. Middleweight champion.Marvelous Marvin Hagler had been the undisuputed champion of the middleweight division since September 27, 1980. He had taken the hard road to the middleweight title, worldly regarded as the #1 challenger for much of the late '70s. His first two shots at the world middleweight title were marred in controversy, the first one being in 1979 drawing a controversial decision against Vito Antuofermo, and his second he travelled to London to challenge champion Alan Minter, defeating him by TKO in three rounds, which led to a riot. The hard road to the middleweight championship help motivate Hagler to have a dominant reign; at that point he had defended the title ten times, winning nine by knockout.
Thomas Hearns was making his debut to the middleweight division after dominating the junior middleweight division, and performing very well at the welterweight. Hearns first title shot was an amazing second round knockout against dominant WBA champion Pipino Cuevas. Hearns defended the title three
times before fighting Sugar Ray Leonard, in a thrilling fight dubbed the Showdown, Hearns lost by technical knockout in the 14th round despite leading on all of the cards. Hearns then succesfully campaigned at junior middleweight, winning the WBC title from Wilfred Benitez. Hearns then defeated Rob
erto Duran by a dramatic second round knockout, in which Duran fell face first. Given the way in which both men had won their latest fights, the fight, held at the Caesars Palace hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 15 of 1985, built a quite interested media's attention and was seen in many countrie
s around the world. In the United States and Puerto Rico, it was broadcast by HBO and WAPA-TV. *wikipedia

What can say about ... ( 3 weeks ago by peasah2005)
What can say about the fight between Marvin Hagler and Thomas Hearns in 1985.
What a brutal battle both throwing bombs in the first round ever. Hagler took Hearns' right and Hearns took Hagler's, but then when it came to the third round, Hagler caught Hearns and then knocked him out. Hagler was a mean machine at middleweight and Hearns a right hitter at welterweight.
