The beauty of this fight is that these 2 terrific hall of fame fighters got into the ring with each other and WENT TO WAR!!! Hagler put pressure on him early, Hearns fought him off with vicious bombs, the adrenaline kicked in and the war was on. This fight is the standard to which all brawls are compared. Oscar and Tito weren't brave enough to brawl like that with each other?

Watching that, I wondered what Hearns was thinking, going toe-to-toe with one of the greatest slugggers ever. I later found out that Emmanuel Steward told him he had to:
"I was nervous," Steward said. "Before we went to the dressing room one of the hangers on had rubbed Tommy's legs down. A massage leaves the body spent and Tommy's legs began giving out on him even before we made the walk to the ring. I was nervous." Unfortunately for Hearns, Hagler could take it.

Anyone who gets tagged by a Hearns hook in this fight would certainly be knocked out, but not the Marvelous One with a marvelous chin. I loved that looping jumping right hand Hagler always connects. Superfight, absolutely Marvelous!!!

This fight sends thrills down my spine every time I watch it, ever since I first saw it live. It was such an exciting demonstration of courage and bravery... I miss this kind of fighters.

The best middleweight fight i've ever seen. if you walked into the room, with the video showing 30 seconds into the fight, you would have thought it was round 7 or 8. It's on from the start and doesn't stop until Marv'-knowing the cut on his forehead is potentially a fight stopper- catches Tommy with a right, and it's 'thanks for coming'. I loved both fighters. Always got more than your money's worth. They don't make them like that anymore! All a part of a golden era in boxing.

People always say Tommy would've beaten Marvin if he had boxed more. Tommy did box in rounds 2&3, he still got knocked out.

To many things were against hearns in this fight. As TSaxman74 said he had his legs rubbed down pre-fight and then broke his hand in the opening round. Had the circumstances been different hearns could have won by ko, even though hagler had the best chin ever.
