yeh i remember this when it happend, toney took roids in an apparent attempt 2 gain more size and power, and if u notice he was much phyicaly stronger in this fight than all of his fights after this, infact not only was he less strong after this fight, but also considerably fatter, great skills tho, shame about the terrible conditioning

On April 30, 2005, Ruiz lost the title to James "Lights Out" Toney in Madison Square Garden. However, after Toney failed the post-match drug test (for stanozolol, an anabolic steroid), the New York Athletic Commission suspended him from boxing in the USA for 90 days, and fined him $10,000 (U.S.). This resulted in Toney's win being changed to a "no contest

Get your facts right man. I recommend you some of Money Mays first fights...he is a puncher! Super feather weight to Super lightweight..those were his neighbourhoods. But as he got bigger (to fight De la Hoya etc) his power wasnt so obvious. He didnt loose it,he just ran into bigger opponents and still kept winning :D Every fighter settle down his agressiveness which pumped him in his youth.

"remains to be seen weather he gets another opportunity..." Mathafukkas gotten 2 more and lost them.... shows how weak the heavyweight division is.

ye and he used the excuse that he had an injury. you cannot take steroids to recover from injuries in sport. regulating bodies prohibit it. anabolic steroids most usefull quality is recovery of muscle tears be they tiny like in body building or big tears in sport. thats what steroids do and toney is a cheat he knows it is illegal to use roids to recover

he has power he just cant use it cause he will break his hands. I'm not suggesting he is a great puncher though, just saying he isn't trying to force every fight to the cards. (even if it normally ends up that way). Floyd has many athletic blessings. If strong hands were one of them his style would dictate a boxer puncher. watch his early fights he threw a lot of combos and hard punches then he F'd up his hand multiple times and changed his strategy.

a boxer puncher has power, mayweather has no power, he is a pure boxer.

  18. May 12, 2009 at 01:48 AM by benballs999

whitaker and pep are better defensively than mayweather, mayweather is good but part of his defense is his counter punching which makes him a bit more of a boxer puncher than a strictly defensive fighter
