This was a great round for jnes but...wtf is he doing at 01:54...tarver was on the ropes ready to be knocked out and jones just walks back. Jones has lost that killer instinct but i still think he could defeat calzaghe..jones just has too much power.

Can't believe Jones lost to Tarver. After seeing what Hopkins did to Tarver it would have been interesting to see Hopkins v Jones II a few years back. They are both too old now, even though I thought Hopkins should have got the decision against Calzaghe. Obviously there is more money to be made with Calzaghe v Jones.

Jones' Strategy: Don't give your opponent any rhythms or micro movements that he could use to duck a punch. Become motionless in front of your opponent.
Tarver's (ideal) strategy: Never let Jones become motionless. Constantly threaten with a half-committed jab and be ready to jump backwards when Jones decides to throw a combo. Yes? No?

if they were to fight again, jones would win, if he fights like he did after the 4th round an on with trinidad, but if he fights like he did rounds 1-3 he doesnt stand a chance, againest fighters like tarver and johnson, you have to work in order to throw them off there game seeing as they both stop everything they do why hit with combination punches,opting to cover there heads with there intire arms, leaving them open for devestating body shots, which after a while opens the for upstairs work.

He did good in this round. He also kicked ass in round 11! Watch the clip from round 11, it is called "jones-tarver 3 round 11 clip" Jones almost had him. He deserved the decision in this fight.

As a Roy Jones fan this fight truly upset me. Jones displayed an arsenal in this round that took Tarver's heart and mental toughness. If he fought like this, Tarver would have quit (his body language showed this). Yet Roy let Tarver (a bum) off the hook. Roy looked as though he was happy with a paycheck, rather than a convincing victory. His career has been shaky ever since this boneheaded display. He's one of my favorites ever, but if he's going to fight big fights like this, he needs to retire

Yosemite72 - absolutely spot on geezer! This round proves that Roy had too much for Tarver. It's baffling, really, how he seemed so satisfied in this fight just to survive the 12 - he could have won this fight!! I really don't believe that Tarver had the Indian sign over Jones - that is BOLLOCKS!! There is no doubt in my mind that ANY pre-heavy Jones wipes the bloody floor with Tarver. Tarver was simply in the right place at the right time - that's it! Peak Jones kicks Tarvers arse big STYLE!!
