Pnut, Hearns came ... ( 3 weeks ago by californiaOC82)
Pnut, Hearns came to fight. That was what made his greatest wins, but hurt him sometimes. But he was a warrior. And that is why people are respecting him more as time goes on. He came to fight!

Hearns was putting ... ( 3 weeks ago by PhilMay1926)
Hearns was putting his all in every punch and he hit Duran with right hands over and over. Duran took it well but how many could he take? Hearns earned this win. Duran takes a good punch, but no man can take much of a Hearns right hand and no one did. This was devastating. I have a hard time remembering such a onesided fight, especially when you have such a hard puncher as Hearns dominating. Hearns was just too fast.
Duran had gone from ... ( 2 weeks ago by nobbytang)
Duran had gone from lightweight 135lb champ in 78 as a 28 year old to fighting @ 11 stone with the same frame - 5 foot 7 and a reach of only 67 inchs only putting on weight ,which slowed him down when he was getting to be somewhat old as a fighter (34yrs) Whilst Hearns @ this time @ 11 stones was a monster and whos chin was then was still good - a clash of greats
boxing1977 the ... ( 2 weeks ago by arther1045)
boxing1977 the local Duran basher. He doesn't mention that Duran past 135 was giving away size and age to fighters like Benitez. To show his sily bias he doesn't even mention that Duran won a title vs a primed Leonard at Leonard's weight. Fact is Duran had a better record vs common apponents then Hearns did and Duran was always the older fighter.
The Hearns/Hagler ... ( 2 weeks ago by arther1045)
The Hearns/Hagler fight was overrated. Hearns didn't even win a round. he put up a good fight in the first round and that is it it was all over. Duran put up a much better fight against Hagler then Hearns did.

I dont think it was overrated considering the many overhyped fights there have been that never live up to expectations.
Hagler and Hearns were 2 of the best ever and went to war within seconds of the 1st round.
It wasnt a technical battle or a dramatic see-saw contest, but it was truly explosive brawl.

Durans fight with ... ( 2 weeks ago by Boxing1977Boxing)
Durans fight with Hagler was boring. Come on. Hearns and Hagler fought a great fight. Not worth arguing that point. Hagler said Hearns was one of his toughest fights, he never said that about Duran, never.. Duran lost to all the greats of the 1980s.. Hagler/Hearns was legit and the greatest first round ever. If that was not great what first round would be.. Arther is just mad that Duran does not have a great first round to go into the history books.
Hearns did much ... ( 2 weeks ago by Boxing1977Boxing)
Hearns did much better with common opponents. Hearns actually beat the greats, not lost decisions. Hearns beat Cuevez,Benitez,Duran. Rocked Hagler and fought the fight of the 1980s. Leonard said his toughest fight was the Hearns fight. And you are saying Duran who lost to all the greats did well with common opponents? The only thing Duran did was beat Barkley and Hearns didn't.. That is all. But Hearns beat greats and Duran didn't. And this fight means alot. Hearns outclassed him.
Duran was the first ... ( 2 weeks ago by jhuan0)
Duran was the first man to beat Leonard. He was the lightweight champion for 6 years, then went on to win welterweight and middleweight titles. He gave Hagler a tougher fight than Hearns.
They are all great great fighters, there is no need to disrespect any of them.
I disagree. Duran ... ( 2 weeks ago by Boxing1977Boxing)
I disagree. Duran did not give Hagler a tougher fight. Duran was no threat and never hurt Hagler. Hagler was rocked by Hearns and cut up and swelled in round one. This is an opinion thing. Roldan gave Hagler a much tougher fight than Duran. What does that mean? The fight with Duran was not that tough for Hagler, it was more frustrating for him. He knew he should have been more aggressive and stopped him in 5 or 6 as he could have. Hearns was much tougher for Hagler. Much.

i did a report on Duran, always wondered how well he boxed
Hearns was much ... ( 1 week ago by HistoricFights)
Hearns was much tougher for Hagler than Duran. Oh man. One was the best round ever and to get to that you have to have a great exchange of punches. Hagler and Hearns threw away defense and bombed away and hit each other with everything clean. Duran/Hagler was a chess match where nothing really big landed for either. Boring fight. Duran/Hearns was onesided action with Hearns outclassing Duran. Hearns was much tougher for Hagler. Hearns,Mugabi,Roldan were Hagler's toughest defenses.
Remember when ... ( 1 week ago by CArchivist)
Remember when boxing really mattered? Cuevez, Hearns, Hagler, Leonard, Duran, Benitez... man that was a lot of great boxing and great boxers!
Only Duran and ... ( 1 week ago by Boxing1977Boxing)
Only Duran and Hearns fought all the guys Cueves,Benitez,Leonard,Hagler. Duran lost to everyone except Cueves, who was 3 years since his title when he fought Duran. 2-5 Hearns was 3-2-1 and fought all of them when they were all prime. Hearns faired better with the greats. Then add Virgil Hill in there-another great. and Hearns beat 4 greats..

U always forget that Duran beat Leonard.
But yes, Hearns is an ATG.
wow, Duran was ... ( 1 week ago by ecualocolatino)
wow, Duran was really hands of stone but he could not touch hearns, look the height difference, the reach that hearns had made him untouchable, fucking jiraffe
jhuan, I do not ... ( 1 week ago by Boxing1977Boxing)
jhuan, I do not forget it, but I just sort of compare Duran beating Leonard to how Fenech did well with Azumah Nelson in 1991, only to come back in the next fight. Azumah came back and took away any credit Fenech earned with a knockout win. Leonard did so well in the rematch that the impression (as well as the 3rd fight with a easy decision) makes clear that Ray lost because not boxing in the first fight, and when he boxed he beat Duran easily with boxing. As did Benitez.

Do not disrespekt Duran. This guy was a natural lightweight.154 pounds was 2 much.
u know wat durans ... ( 3 days ago by makpak)
u know wat durans problem was he thought he was THE greatest and that nobody else was good and he always underestimated people. i love duran but i hate that he always underestimated boxers and that night hearns showed him a fistful of dollers and dreams.
