Nigel Benn used to ... ( 6 months ago by phoenix1916)
Nigel Benn used to phsyce himself up with Rebel tapes he stole off Nationalists while stopping their cars in Aughnacloy Checkoint in Tyrone, i remember he tried to do that to us and about 5 of us got out and beat 40 shades of shite outa 7 of them, that was a really good night!!!!

So I heard Gman and Benn finally met each other. I can't find any info on this. How come this is so unknown?

"In the ring you ... ( 5 months ago by CardinalStorm)
"In the ring you have to go to war, and in war you have to be prepared to die." McClellan's own words, and he meant them.
If you live by the sword, you die by the sword. Nobody 'deserves' what happened to McClellan but nobody forced him to be a boxer. He stepped into the ring intent on destroying Benn, and nearly did. If McClennan was an evil man - which many reports suggest - then maybe he had it coming. I'm a fir
m believer in what goes comes around.

yeah well said..as a boxer and former martial artist, i read the Hagakure and apply the ways of Bushido to my life style and boxing philosophy, you gotta accept your Faith and the risk of your actions..so we can't blame Benn, and even though we feel sorry for Gerald..it's part of the game and Bushido. It's a shame though Gerald cant get a Pension and more help/support from boxers..this a lack of Honnor toward a great warrior like Gerald.
Its unknown and ... ( 5 months ago by Herrosivich)
Its unknown and nearly erased because of what happened to Mc clennan. The fight is very hard to get. It should have been stopped in RD1, Benn was out of it. He done great to come back. Its lucky that when Mc clennan went down on his knee that Benn didnt hit him or God knows what the outcome would have been. Mc clennan was the man!!!!
Well, this has been ... ( 5 months ago by Turk15)
Well, this has been getting lots of media attention though.
So I don't see why there isn't even footage or even an article describing their first ever meeting since their fight.

I don't think that's a fair comment. There's no way Benn could've known the severity of McClellan's injuries mere minutes after the fight.
Any time someone is ... ( 5 months ago by mayanda)
Any time someone is unconscious being strapped to a stretcher, and you don't even take the time to check on their status... it leaves you with a bad taste in your mouth. Benn was also quite out of it though, and he proved in the end to be a great person who really did care. As I said, after all these years of disliking Nigel Benn, he changed my view of him as a person, and in turn a fighter.

What no one tells ... ( 4 months ago by torr5962)
What no one tells you is Mclellan tried to lose 35 pounds in 6 weeks...its what a lot of fighters have in common from Jimmy Garcia to DuKoo Kim....dont try to lose all the weight that fast and then fight.
Array ( 4 months ago by karlos81)
Shut up you tart!
He started camp at 179lbs i have the build up, camps 3hrs worth on the fight. 35lbs that would have made him a heavyweight.

His walking around weight was far too heavy before camp....and he started camp late.
Nigel Benn fought ... ( 3 months ago by brianbcfc)
Nigel Benn fought the fight of his life and nothing and no blame should EVER be aimed at him,he did what thousands of fighters do ever year and win a fight, and I was so happy he did.. Gerald and his gang came to the U.K and gave it this and that about knocking out big benn with a picture of big benn in London falling etc.people forget that the yanks gave brit boxing a bashing b4 the fight.Mclellan was poss the best in the world at the time and I wish him well, he knew the risks.glad i was there
YOU'RE DEAD WRONG ... ( 3 months ago by boxerpuncherj)
YOU'RE DEAD WRONG PAL! The G Man was, and will always be the better fighter. That's a fact. He EARNED a first round KO if not for Benn being conveniently protected at all costs. Here are just a few irrefutable facts of that tragic night
1. The G Man ... ( 3 months ago by boxerpuncherj)
1. The G Man blasted him through the ropes, and when Benn got up, the ref inexplicably seperated them for critical seconds allowing Benn to recover. He also did so towards the end of the round, and any time Benn was stunned.
3. The rabbit ... ( 3 months ago by boxerpuncherj)
3. The rabbit punches in round 2 were what I believe to be the beginning of the brain injury. I think this is precisely the reason why he started pushing out his mouth piece, and why after the round he told his corner "somethings not right" (you can hear it on the showtime version of the fight)
4. Benn hits ... ( 3 months ago by boxerpuncherj)
4. Benn hits McClellan with another very hard rabbit punch with like a minute to go in round 6, which immediately causes McClellan to protectively raise his glove behind his head, and (unfortunately to no avail) show the ref he was fouled. Moreover, Back of The Head Benn hits him 3 consecutive times (very hard) AFTER the FOKIN bell. In addition, at the end of round 7, Benn again throws 3 powerful shots to the back of his head, 2 of which land in devestating fashion.
McClellan, formerly ... ( 2 months ago by IrelandRaven)
McClellan, formerly my favourite fighter, deserves everything that happened to him. The man was a sick thuggish bastard. its a pity he didnt shoot himself in the head like he did to his dog when it lost a fight
according to the ... ( 2 months ago by IrelandRaven)
according to the guardian, King said McClellan quit like a motherfucking dog
benn was up at the ... ( 2 months ago by IrelandRaven)
benn was up at the count of 6 but was still out of the ring, any allegations towards a slow count are bullshit, i have the fight and have seen it about 20 times no joke. its true though that the ref was very kind to benn in the first round.
Benn got up and took control of the fight. mclellan didnt get injured from a head clash or rabbit punches, he got injured from taking punches to the head which tends to happen in boxing. Our bodies aren't built for that you know.
