Right, well, I've been to Cuba and Venezuela and can tell you that Cuba needs changes, but it's not Stalin's gulags. And as a student of history you are well aware that the capitalist system really took root as a result of slavery and conquest beginning with the Spanish expeditions in the Americas as chronicled in Eduardo Galeano's judicious work. You are also aware that Cuba had every right to liberate itself from the U.S. imperial agenda that embedded itself on Cuba beginning in 1898.

Your theory of why people emigrate to the US bc it is "free" is wrong. Countries in the Gulf region have massive immigration rates, often times 75% or more of the total population are immigrants. Yet these countries are anything but free, and workers are frequently no more than slaves. But they still go, and their going there does not mean by any stretch of the imagination, that these countries are free. And workers can't obtain permanency there. Probably they had higher rates if so.

Please provide a reference of the latest Cuban "killed" by the Cuban Govt. The last one I remember was an airline hijacker almost 10 years ago. But he was found guilty of a crime, and condemned to death. I don't agree with the death penalty, but plz answer my question.

if you compare our economy to the rest of the world, we are still doing much bettereven though our dollar has fallen in value. in europe they pay far higher prices for gas and food. they pay 8 dollars a gallon in europe. I don't know what state you live in, but here in heavily conservative utah, our economy and unemployment is kicking ass.

and also #2. Who controls the money? Congress.....during Bush's fathers presidency, the democrats controlled the congress until during Clintons presidency in 1994. During that time the economy was terrible. In 1994 the democrats were voted out because of their assault weapons ban and the republicans took over. From 1994 to 2006 the economy was very good in the USA. Now that the democrats took over congress in 2006, the economy and gas prices went to shit.
