As Dirk says in that very Ring magazine Hopkins is printed as undisputed #1 at LH and #4 P4P!!! Think again Mistnin.
Perhaps you're ... ( 6 months ago by 2hh2)
Perhaps you're right but in the eyes of most calzaghe would gain nothing by beating Johnson. If he is to go down that route it will be Tarver i'm sure.

Stork - Calzaghe is Welsh so has always struggled to get anywhere near the love Hatton has off the mainstream English public.

volume over time outweights effectivenss especially if niether guy can hurt each other ,that is a great quote i agree 100%
calzaghe got it ... ( 6 months ago by wazo89)
calzaghe got it just for work rate even if benard landed the cleaner punches all night he didnt do enougth in the last three rounds
I had joe winning the fight 114-113 on the last round he got it for me
How can JC be the ... ( 6 months ago by MrMirKuja)
How can JC be the best pound for pound? who has he fought? He gained that stupid record by fighting bums, then he fights a 43yr old hopkins on his way out who is no where near the level he was about 4-5 yrs ago. Only two good people JC has fought is eubank and hopkins and both those guys were on there way out. Now JC wants to fight RJJ another guy on his way out.

That doesnt add anything to your argument. Calzaghe won clearly because he clearly landed more punches - a hell of a lot more in fact - than Hopkins.
Thats the be all and end all of it.

I dont neccessarily agree with that.
Joe isnt as big a character as Ricky Hatton. He's always been a bit of a private guy and has done more of his talking with his fists. Hatton has natural charisma and charm about him.
Yes, you're right ... ( 6 months ago by 2hh2)
Yes, you're right but looking further back in Calzaghe's career plenty of times he got very hostile receptions against English opponents, naturally meaning it took longer for him to win English fans.
Because Britain is ... ( 6 months ago by hughesey2)
Because Britain is a relatively small pond when it comes to world beating boxers, I think that where they come from in Britain is irrelevant if they box someone from America for example. Boxing only involves the whole of the country when there is a huge fight, like hatton-mayweather or calzaghe-hopkins, and the majority of brits support that boxer, whether he comes from eng/scot/wales/n.ire. The only times when that rivalry becomes heated is when it is domestic, eg haye-maccarinelli.

Worldranked- Sorry ... ( 6 months ago by storkjmc)
Worldranked- Sorry this comment got lost in the shuffle. I personally think its great that Versus is picking up the Hatton-Lazcano fight. I said before and I'll say it again- "HBO doesn't run the sport of Boxing" they may think they do but they don't. And kudos to Don King for now successfully twice having fights broadcast over his website. If ShowTime put some more money into their boxing budget - look out. Its not like the old days, but its getting better.

What is your problem with the English you sausage breathed crout! You are German anyway not American, unless you're just one of them Hitler supporters. You're boxers are all overprotected cocksuckers...haha that's the truth of it. If they left Germany they'd be beat over here before they even got to the states. Hatton is still the baddest man in his division with Witter close behind. Froch is a top contender with WBC/IBF/WBO. Haye is the baddest man at Cruiserweight. What's your point?

ESPN2 Showed the Quillin fight about 3 hours after it was supposed to air. Quillin looked solid, but he wasn't spectacular. He'll never be among the elite at middleweight. Boxingforumdotcom

i personally scored calzaghe 8 rounds and hopkins 4, and i totally agree what this guy says about the fight, the fight was certainly no classic it was ugly and dirty but joe did very well under the circumstances
i agree, i had it 9 ... ( 3 months ago by mjdillaha)
i agree, i had it 9 to 3. 8 to 4 is the lowest i can see anyone scoring it. with the knockdown, its still not that close. how judge bird had the fight even, with hopkins winning with the knockdown, i will never know. i knew it would be ugly because hopkins was involved, but hopkins shamed himself with the low blow claims. by the way, he got in at least 3 or 4 intentional low blows himself. that calzaghe beat him so handily is a tribute to his skill. he is very impressive. he will beat jones.

Hi, storkjmc, U really know alot about boxing. Can u tell me (honestly) who will win in your opinion: Adamek or Cunningham? And can u explain?
I think Adamek will win his next fight.

maXfactor0-I'm really not sure I can see it going both ways and Cunningham is a lot tougher than people think, it might be a replay of Adamaek's fight with Chad Dawson.
At last - a US ... ( 4 weeks ago by chisacat)
At last - a US ring pundit with a healthy outlook on reality - guys hate Joe cos he's welsh/british - that stinks , Joes a late bloomer - In 99 he barely got passed robin reid - Lacy destroyed reid , calzahge gave lacy the most one sided 12 round beating you will ever see - another funny thing is all these fighters say Joe slaps instead of punching - yet after they have fought him they dont mention it again LOL Joe was a KO artist till his left hand blew up in 99 - he changed on the fly
