Let's establish one thing right out of the gate: We love the band Sigur Ros.
Their music is beautiful and moving, so much so that it doesn't matter that they're singing in a totally made-up language. Sigur Ros is four lads from Iceland, and recently, they were in New York to screen a new concert film Heima at the New Yorker Festival. Their P.R. folks called and asked if we
wanted them on the show, to which we quickly replied, "hells yeah". Anyway, last Friday the band showed up promptly at 11am (EDT) and commenced to give what is possibly the worst interview in the history of electronic media. Seriously. It was that bad. We're not sure if they were tired, or if i
t was a language thing, or what... but wow. Whereas most shows would just bury an interview like that, we've decided to actually show it to you. It certainly made us laugh. We hope you'll enjoy it too. And to repeat, we love this band. We are going to be the first people to buy their new album "Hv
arf / Heima" when it comes out this November. And the concert documentary is beautiful -- please go see it if it comes to your town. Just never invite them on your radio show.

Well for starters, the person who wrote the below statement (BPPNPR)? is obviously ignorant of the band other than the 5 minutes they listened to before the interview.

This is hilarious. the equivilant questions to these would be like when a winning football manager comes off the pitch and is asked 'so you must be happy with the three points'? and replies 'yes'.
Sigur ros just saw through all the guff really, how journos how to to suck the soul and mystery out of every band by making them answer banal questions about their songwriting process.

horrible interview. not so much sigur ros, but they were asked a lot of lame questions. how about asking open ended questions? i like NPR too, but this was terrible.

i love sigur ros but this interview is just painful to watch. as much as they may have been sick of hearing the same questions, i do honestly think they could have made more of an effort. as monotonous as it might be for them, there's no excuse for being plain rude like that. what a shame.

i covered my face throughout the whole thing... it was so embarassing.... i cant believe this show actually had the nerve to blame the band for this situation... that interviewer was so stupid and blunt, and asked yes or no questions, which you learn not to do at lastest in 5th grade... so for fucks sake... but this was really entertaining which was prolly the point to begin with...

Good to know: Before the interview, Sigur Ros had about an hours chat with the interviewer. He seemed to be at level, asking them relevant stuff, being truly interested. Then, when live and on air he started asking these terrible, stupid questions. They were stunned at his behaviour, and probably got pretty pissed off.
