not hating on this guy or anything but his form is simply terrible. I mean he over rotates his hips and his hook is too pronounced instead of functional. It looks more like an exercise move than a type of punch. Not hating just pointing out what i see.

bdruckus, you've OBVIOUSLY never boxed. Granted his stance isn't an orthodox boxing stance, but he throws that hook pretty well. YES you overexagerate when punching air. You aren't going to do that in a fight anyways. If you notice he does one more good thing that a lot of boxers even don't do well - he isolates his pivoting foot, so that only one leg is pivoting while the other is achoring. Too many people pivot both feet when throwing a hook, and get knocked on their ass when they're countered

Not really - if you want to get technical, Dutch kickboxing is boxing + Kyokushin vs. Muay Thai. Kickboxing also pertains to a full contact karate fighting, which really doesn't cut it today. Watching K-1, you'll see that Thai guys sometimes work their hands differently, but EVERYONE is solidly boxing and doing Muay Thai style kicks. A few notable exceptions who pull off ax kicks and spinning kicks, but those guys are relatively few.

I practice muay thai. I'm just used to bringing those sorts of punches in and swinging too widely. He keeps a good job of keeping his body centered and throwing the punches from his hip. You could actually just ask me why i've formulated my opinion instead of assuming i've never boxed.

bdruckus, I apologize for that assumption - it's just that I meet too many "kickboxers" who don't have good hands and get totally run over when they face someone who kickboxes but has good boxing skills. I'd actually like to clarify then - in boxing there are different types of hooks. The one this guy is throwing some boxers throw almost as an Muay Thai elbow. The more commonly used kickboxing hook that's more "ranged" also exists in boxing, to come out of the opponent's field of vision.

I definitely agree with it. Obviously it's not a kickboxing hook. But it's FITNESS kickboxing, it's different from actual kickboxing. Well that's just my opinion, obviously. 'Cause from my experience its really nothing like a kickboxing hook.
