the british title was something to be proud of holding when i first got into boxing.these days it means very little. you can get a shot at a so called world title now after 15 fights or so.its a very similer situation with the nabf/usba titles they mean nothing now.its a shame but saying a bout is a world title fight generates more intrest and of course more cash.
I'm from the Uk & very proud of our fighters past & present, but in the face of Ali, Tyson, Hagler, Leonard & countless more.... one has to admit the USA has had almost all the greatest. They have also honoured it's traditions completely, breeding a long & colourful history. Whether it's the sheer size of the USA's population or simply their dedication to the sport, USA has to be my first choice by a country mile.
without a doubt the U.S.A produce the best boxers in the present day and in the history of this great sport i would say coming second is either uk or mexico, mexico have produce not just champions but warriors and every boxing fan loves the way the mexicans fight
WHAT?whos shit? we have the world ranked number 2 in tennis england soccer team is ranked 8th in the world we just won the ashes against the top cricket team dont dis our country we have a few good sports people for the size of the country and the state the country is in with the youth being out of control but with people like you what hope do they have if you shoot them down in shit at every opportunity
i dn't think any asian country can lay claim to this title. martial arts in this part of the globe doesn't involve using the fist to hammer the opponent to submission. in man to man combat, we normally use our open hand to disarm or to outbalance the opponent. boxing is brought to our islands by the US servicemen. tho recently, philippines have two names submitted in the list of ten p4p best.
UK.. for a small population we churn out the champions.. for the size of the US i would expect the champions that come through.. but the UK produce some of the worlds best despite there low population
uk has a pretty good thing going right now called prize fighter check it out!!!
puerto rico vs mexico the best all time figths
USA, followed by Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba. England as always creates a sport and ends up being in the most part shit at it, boxing, football, cricket, tennis, the list goes on, although to are defence we are pretty good at football.
UK. For a smaller island in comparison to the USA to have produced as many champions as we have whilst also giving the support you see our fighters get, especially when over in the states is something i am proud of as a British Boxing fan.
good info!
leonard, de lahoya, mayweather, chico gatti, foreman, liston, patterson, jack johnson, dempsey, marciano, jones jr, toney, whitiker, hill, moorer, holyfield....etc on and on the fighters you can name without even thinking by and large are american fighters, thats why everyone comes here to make money...
America hands down!!! best heavyweight ever...Ali... best light heavy... ezzard charles.. best heavyweight ever..take your pick.. haglar, hopkins..best welterweight ever..ray robinson.... best light weight i give to duran....not to mention tyson, holmes
Greatest History of boxing cant be anything but the USA. It goes back to the late 1800's with Irish, Italian, english etc ... immigrants doing bare knuckle boxing. Then you have the days of Greg Dempsey, followed by sonny liston and guys in 50's, them Ali, foreman, all the way through modern times. No other country comes close in comparison over the long haul. Mexico would be second - but does not go back as far. Puerto Rico is a US territory - so credit that to US as well.
Puerto Rico has 60 World Champions and its size is comparable to Israel. Youngest Champion in any division Benitez at 17. Greatest 122 champ in history Gomez 44W 42 Ko's 3 L 1 Draw defending the world title 17 times all by KO's.
It has to be USA= Sugar Ray Robinson, Ali, Marciano etc. Mexico = Julio Cesar Chavez, Sanchez Finito Lopez , Ruben Olivares. 115 World Champs Puerto Rico = Gomez, Benitez, Rosario, Carlos Ortiz. 60 World Champs. Panama, Roberto Duran, Eusebio Pedroza, Isamel Laguna. Cuba (king in the amateurs) Kid Chocolate, Kid Gavilan, Napoles (Cuba/Mexico citizen)
Just look up, "Boxing Pound 4 Pound Best" The great larry merchant saying it like it is
No doubt Puerto Rico!!!!!!!!!!! highest champion per capita ratio!!!!!!! a country of just a few million with so many champs, no doubt about it!!!!
Already half way there pal
Thanks, wouldn't mind getting a commentator gig though!
Thanks bigragu. Your boxing vids are good though. Did hear on the radio that fantasy leagues are big in the states and a few people actually got jobs with real teams and have done well , Baseball i think.
I make the football videos strictly for the guys in my Fantasy Football League. The guys in my league think they're awesome so I will make those for them. You will know if they're up because of the FFNC in the title that way you can avoid being bored to tears.
Depression makes fighters. Please stick to boxing vids pal.
You gotta go on population etc...... it's not that simple. Big fights take place in the USA because of PPV, Americans don't travel too much either. Poverty has a direct link to boxing , so does sport funding etc..... Boxers pave the way for the next level, the constant refinement of skills and techniques means you can't pitch fighters against those that come before them, because the guy that came later has the advantage. Anyway the answer is Britain ;-).
now that the depression hit it will make a comeback! Happens every time. Now that women's boxing is in the Olympics it could take off like wildfire!
