Ray Leonard & Marvin Hagler Interview

Uploaded by: datman2000

Video Stream Description:
A circa 2000 BBC interview with Marvin Hagler and Ray Leonard. They discuss their 1988 fight. Not surprising, there's still some difference of opinion. Hagler also hints as to why he's never tried to come back. Still the Marvelous one. --Rotoscope

Everyone talks ... ( 5 months ago by Piglatinsuperstar)
Everyone talks about how great prime leonard was but I didn't see him dominate anyone and fared poorly on the scorecards with hitman. he shouldn't have had to play catchup with Tommy. He should have just belted him out quick like Marvin did but leonard lacked the same intensity and skills.

duran-lost to leonard twice, destroyed by hearns and beat by Hagler. hes the 4th best MIDDLEweight of the bunch great light weight though.
Leonard lets be honest lostthe second fight with hearns lost the hagler fight and danced about an angry duran. hes 3rd
Hearns- shouldnt have been stopped when he first fought leonard destroyed duran put up a great fight for hagler and was robbed in his 2nd fighgt with leonard! he is second

boxing lost its old ... ( 4 months ago by sleazyfellow)
boxing lost its old school mentality LONG ago. Back when you had to take the title from the champion, not run and showboat around the ring. Watch louis walcott1, walcott clearly ran and potshotted his way to what he thought was a victory, but too bad for him the judges had seen him stay away all night...you have to go into the mouth of the beast to win in their eyes.

To become a champion 6 times. I reckoned Leonard is the king of middleweight division. That is ofcourse with all due respect to you mate.
ray leonard only ... ( 4 months ago by ricardoparker93)
ray leonard only fought twice at middleweight where as hagler spent his whole career at middleweight. i know wat you're tryin to say but throughout leonards career there have been some dubious descisions. but i know what you'r tryin to say.

you know that decision be debatable. Everybody still debating it 20 years later like it just happen. No other fight got this much press! I think that decision stink myself.

Not surprising the way they keep giving him titles. Norris more reluctant to give his away.

I can't believe ... ( 2 months ago by toonarmysport)
I can't believe anyone who thought that the fight was robbery. Leonard clearly won the fight, 8 rounds to 4. Hagler didn't get going until the 5th, and he was already four rounds down by then and after that the rounds were shared. The only round that Hagler started to get on top was in the ninth, but even then Leonards wonderful hand speed boxed Haglers ears off. You have to remember that Sugar Ray had only fought once in 3 years prior to the fight.

I scored the fight first 2 rds for Ray, 3rd RD Hagler, 4th Rd for Ray. So i had it 3-1 for Ray heading to the 5th. After that i thought it was all Marvin. Ray running like crazy with Marvin chasing him and landing the better punches. I scored the fight 7 rds to 5 for Hagler.

it depends on what your looking at,if it's agression hagler if speed and punches landed leonard and who the crowds routing for makes all the difference in the world .they were routing for the golden boy leonard hand speed and the fact that he made it to the finish line and was able to play those psych games and land that many punches was in their book enough
but if this was a ... ( 2 months ago by JAYFUNK47)
but if this was a street brawl hagler hands down .leonard has some endurance ,but he's not a brawler he's a chess player who plays head games .hes like a mini ali

115-114 hagler, n it sounds closer than it was. eighter way SRL didn't do enough to take d title. ur right d hearns rematch was a bigger robbery, n ray refused both of em rematches. 1.Hearns 2.Hagler 3.SRL 4.Duran.. ray got plain lucky d 1st n his ass whupped d 2nd.. d fact dat he ducked him like crazy proves who was d better fighter. hearns fought marvin without legs n his right hand, hearns 100% i can't se marvin beating him.. d Hitman #1 all d way
there is no ... ( 3 weeks ago by camoguitardude)
there is no question at all that Hagler SHOULD have won this fight. If you watch the fight and score it fairly, you come up with Hagler winning nearly every round.Leonard ran round the ring the entire fight and only threw tirades of punches that had no effect on MH whatsoever. What is trajic was that this was marvins last fight, and he was robbed of the legacy he deserved. His only other loss was to Willie Monroe in 1976.The boxing establishment were merely trying to discredit the champion.

Those who were thinking that Haggler'd have won the match vs. Leonard do know much about boxing. They are looking that sport in epylepsy condition.

YAKI: Hearns better than Hagler???? LOL !!! What are you saying that Hearn went into the ring 'injured' to face a monster like Hagler...get real..he was in top condition & gave it best shot..only he was up against the greatest middle of all time & did not just get beat...he was SMASHED into complete oblivion..he never fancied a rematch did he???
