| Hey My 2 jack ... ( 3 months ago by kame25) |
| Hey My 2 jack dempseys are mating. what can I do to make this breeding successful. I have no caves or plants in my tank. Would I need any for the female to lay her eggs, also will I have to remove them for the babys sake or will they be good parents and not eat them? |

| They are very good parents, although you will end up with more survivors if you relocate the fry to a small tank and raise them on baby brine shrimp since in that large tank they might not find the food they need.
As for environment, all you need is sand and a flat surface. As you can see in the video, JDs will lay their eggs on a surface then when they hatch they'll relocate them to a hole in the sand. If you use gravel you'll end up with fry getting lost/stuck in between the large pieces. |
