that's right I ... ( 2 months ago by Piglatinsuperstar)
that's right I remember Hagler having to ask Ray for a rematch and leonard said no but faced lalonde instead who is a nobody. His fans don't like it when you bring up that Leonard refused a rematch becuz it makes him look like the coward he is. They also don't like it when you bring up how Ray stood on the sidelines for 5 years waiting for Marvin to dry up. And don't EVER bring up the Norris fight where Ray was favored 3-1 and still got his ass kicked the whole fight.
And don't ever ... ( 2 months ago by Piglatinsuperstar)
And don't ever bring up the Camacho fight when stupid got some more courage to come out and fight only to get his ugly puss rearranged and then go out the sport quitting like he always does. Ray could be seen taking the mike and then blaming the knockout on a sore calf. Sore loser can't even take his loss like a man.
Wait. Leonard ... ( 2 months ago by Piglatinsuperstar)
Wait. Leonard doesnt give Hagler a rematch and you instead blame Hagler for quitting after 15 years.
That's how you leonard fans have always been and still are, blaming the other guy for leonard's short comings. What about Leonard quitting when Kevin Howard dumped him on his ass? Leonard cries "I just didnt have it tonight" then calls it quits. You just described your own man! LOL And because
you unwittingly criticized Hagler for no good reason, you now have to eat your own words.

Ray Leonard made DURAN QUIT FIGHTING AND MADE MARVIN HAGLER QUIT THE SPORT.

Marvin put all that pressure on the small man and couldnt knock him out and blitzed with shots from all types of angles and he thinks he won.
LOL. :-)
Leonard was ... ( 2 months ago by C9pherD9v9ne)
Leonard was blitzing Marv from all types of angles, shots coming from all over the dam place. and Marv thinks he won. HAHAH.
I think Marvin thought his mean tough looking face would somehow mean Ray Leonard would be scared. I think Hearns thought the same thing too. :-) Leonard schooled them klowns.
Shut up you idiot ... ( 1 month ago by Caribdus)
Shut up you idiot and realise not everyone has your opinion. You no doubt think Leonard also deserved the generous draw he got against Tommy Hearns in their rematch.
Wrong again. I ... ( 1 month ago by Mhendeb)
Wrong again. I think Tommy won that fight and the draw was wrong. Just like I believe Leonard beat Hagler. I stick by my opinions.
Glad to hear that. ... ( 1 month ago by Caribdus)
Glad to hear that. As for Hagler vs Leonard we'll have to agree to disagree but that's ok by me.
And Ray has lied ... ( 1 month ago by dbreiden83080)
And Ray has lied his ass off for years about not wanting that rematch. In interviews acting like Marvin wanted to retire and he had had enough. Marvin for about a year was frantic about that rematch, watch any of the documentaries on him they chronicle the whole thing. Ray refused to give it to him so Marvin said "The hell with this i'm done" Nobody listen to Ray downplaying it, Marvin wanted to tear Ray's head off in a rematch.
The jackals have ... ( 1 month ago by Piglatinsuperstar)
The jackals have returned. TIme to go to work.
Terry Norris made leonard quit the sport dumbass.
Kevin howard made Leonard quit the sport. Hector Camacho made leonard quit the sport and knocked him the fuck out in front of you and in front of a live crying audience.

leonard did beat hagler simple as that
Loenard never won ... ( 1 month ago by heatblast87)
Loenard never won that fight at the most he should have gotten a draw if that. Hagler worked that body all night and leonard held on to him to much why there was no point token away for that i dont know but leonard won that fight because he's ray leonard he was given that fight. Hagler gave leonard a comeback fight why didnt leonaed give hagler a rematch? B/C leonard was scared he would get K.O.'d like hagler's previous losses not taking anything away from leonard he was a great fighter.
But he never won ... ( 1 month ago by heatblast87)
But he never won that fight. that night leonard career was left in that ring.

Leonard won the points match.Hagler could have fought a much better match and Leonard could not. Hagler gave away to many early rounds, but clearly won the second half of the fight. Good strategy by Leonard.

WOW. I love how Hagler straight up accused boxing of being corrupt and fixed.

Marvin really makes a great point. A fight that close, split decision, should go to the champ, especially a long time champ like he was.

Hagler was a great champion,, but I don't think he ddi enough that night to win. He waited too long to start pressing Leonard!!

I love how he hates Ray Leonard....lossing to him of all people he says. thats hilarious thats what I love marvelous the exact opposite of guys like ray leondard and floyd mayweather and fighters I hate. more polotics and created careers like delahoya
Don't know if the ... ( 4 weeks ago by doniemc77)
Don't know if the Petronelli's were to blame or was it Marv himself but whatever the case the tactics were definitely off the first half of the fight?
Marvin and some of the posters make a great point re the holding behind the head. A one point deduction in the middle rounds and the dynamics of this fight would have changed dramatically. Had Mills Lane been the third man in the ring things would have been dramatically different!
Bottom line is many ... ( 2 weeks ago by bscottdp)
Bottom line is many boxing fans are missing the point.
Ray Leonard had not fought in 5 years and he was a natural 147 pounder. Its funny when people say he didnt hurt Hagler. He was a 147 pounder challenging a 160 pounder and off for 5 years. Why are you struggling with a blown up welterweight who was off 5 years. Period
Ray Leonard waited ... ( 1 week ago by paulguadarrama)
Ray Leonard waited until Hagler was no longer the same fighter. The last 2 yrs before this fight Hagler had been in a lot of wars. His reflexes were no longer the same by this time. His stamina was no longer the same either. Ray Leonard changed the weight of the fighters, demanded a bigger ring, and bigger gloves. And fortunately for him, there were no longer 15 round fights. Bottom line, Leonard waited until Hagler was no longer the same fighter, negotiated to his advantage and took advantage.
