You have to remember, Hearns was a warrior. Hearns was kind of kamikaze style. He took too many chances at times when he boxed so well and had great skill and power. Tommy had a warrior mentality, but it hurt him in a 3 fights. He won all the rest. Jones could not handle this pressure and wouldn't have brawled like Hearns. I give Hearns credit. He was moving up in weight and he still brawled like this.. Some people insult Hearns for losing but I do not. I think it took tremendous guts to come and fight like this to try and take the title from a dominant champ like Marvin. Who else in the history of boxing with his credentials would have done that? It was later found that Thomas broke his right hand in the first round of this fight. I'm not sure that would have saved him? I admire the way he went toe to toe with a guy a lot better built for this weight class and this type of brawl. Unlike ray who used a bunch of flashy bs VS Hagler.
