Yeah, Tyson was good for the sport, specially in that era when the hvywt. was at an all time low. I think timing has to do with it, had he come around even 5 years later, he woulda' had a better career. Don King kinda ruined him as well. They see a cash cow and they do everything to keep him that way. I wasn't a huge Tyson fan but I do admit that he was great for Boxing, however fleeting. sure will. I'm no boxing scholar but I think my point stands that 80s Tyson was arguably the best ever. If you see the documentary the Buster fight is clearly explained by the fact that Tyson had just fired his trainer and was too busy banging girls and drinking to be training like a real champion. Not excusing the KO but just saying... If Cus had lived until like 1990, can you imagine what Tyson could have done?

I was talking about at that point. 80s tyson, when he was focused and before he began his self-destruction (which was well underway when Douglas fought him). Holyfield was Tyson trying to get back into form. But Tyson between 1985 and 1988? Unstoppable. When he trained hard he was pretty much the scariest man to ever enter the ring.

He was intimidating but not of all time. That's hard to judge. Buster Douglas wasn't intimidated, neither was Holyfield. Every once and a while someone of Tyson's ilk comes along only to go down like the rest of em', that's the nature of the sport. They only have to get beat once, then the veil is lifted.
