fuz2 I wouldn't use ... ( 1 month ago by UbuntoO)
fuz2 I wouldn't use the same defense twice and I'm not talking about just blocking the kick. I'm talking about taking control of the high leg and using it to finish the conflict with the opponent dancing on one foot. Of course if I miss that's not good, and I move to next defense, but just standing there absorbing kicks is like in this vid is not my idea of defense. I'm going to take the aggressors attack energy and use it against him for a final finish to the conflict.

you dont have to absorb it just bring up your knee and his shin will be fucked up lol.

yeah youd do lot. why do people like you feel the need to tell people how good they are ? youd probably trip over and land flat on your face !!! and we'd all laugh.

Its really really hard to catch a low kick. Its fast and if you try, you gonna have ter bend down or lower your guard which would make YOU susceptible to a cross or upper cut which could knock you out imo
For you two arguing ... ( 1 month ago by ronanscreed)
For you two arguing over catching the "low kick"... Depending largely on the level of conditioning the kick the defender has the kick will be anytghing from just painful to near crippling.
Assuming your conditionend well enough you can take the hit and still attempt to catch the leg.
At thigh level or above, kick can be grabed if youre in the right stance. generally a low stance commonly employed by wrestlers.
Like anything in fighting, no technique is full proof as the attacker or defender.
mate do u even know ... ( 1 month ago by drez13)
mate do u even know what ure talking about "UbuntoO." IT certainly wouldnt seem so. In mma it IS possible to do a double/single leg TAKEDOWN when someone low kicks, and MUCH less sensible to try to CATCH a low kick. Its just not a technique fighters use on low kicks. Catching kicks is much more sensible for mid to high kicks. Although im pretty sure this wont be of any use to a keyboard warrior like yourself ;(
Geesh, supa22man, ... ( 1 month ago by UbuntoO)
Geesh, supa22man, Ronanscreed's got it right. Anything can happen attacker or defender. My point was just this kick is billed as the new be all end all attacks by the author. It's not. And just standing there like his assistant is stupid. Step back grab kick. Twist leg off, step on face. 1,2,3,4 like that! Got it.
I agree with ronan ... ( 1 month ago by supa22man)
I agree with ronan tht the effect of the low kick depends heavily on conditioning, but tht wasnt the discussion.Agree more with drez, the defense usually emplyed against a low kick is a shin block or a takedown.Bending to catch a low kick would be dangerous as u wud prolly expose urself and u'd have to take the full power of the kick(usu quite powerful).Unlike catching mid/high kiks where u can dissipate power by movin wif the kik.Dont b pissed or nuthin, jus an opinion
Most MMA fighters ... ( 4 weeks ago by Zrazys)
Most MMA fighters take the kicks without much defense. I haven't seen to many grabs.
Perhaps the MMA fighters haven't been trained well enough in kicking to make it so devastating, or, they are in good enough shape to take the kicks. Maybe a little of both?
I've read that the grappling based MMA fighters don't have good enough boxing, or kicking skill to be that dangerous and, fight that way because they are too afraid of each others submission game, like Penn vs. Sherk.
If you were only ... ( 4 weeks ago by Shonem)
If you were only talking about the ones who mostly take the fights to the ground then you would be right, most don't put much into there kicks. But allot of MMA fighters do. Hell, you can go look for videos that are just ten minutes of knock out kicks to the face.
Melvin Manhoef does ... ( 4 weeks ago by Zrazys)
Melvin Manhoef does, but Sherk and, Penn don't. I've seen Cro Cop do that as well, but I meant that the grapplers don't.

Yeah, and I agree with you on that, they don't.

ubuntoo - yes ... ( 3 weeks ago by wtfdoihavetodohere)
ubuntoo - yes everyone knows the good ol' "grab them by the leg trick", and it's a great move against weak or sloppy opponents. These guys kick really hard though and it's scary when a kick that hard comes flying at you. That and a good kicker uses kicks sparingly and usually when the opponent is a little tired or intimidated, making a counter less likely.

well actually the leg gets power from velocity what he said was write but not really step * velocity* and their shouldnt be only *one* way of kicking or just does ways.
And no one can say one kick is VERY effective cause it also depends on the position of the fighters.
