Years ago, I was training to bcome a judge of marching band and drum corp competitions. Everything THERE must be precise and coordinated. the trainer showed us this clip...and said "watch when they are dancing the same steps at the same time. Are they precisely together?" At first you want to say Absolutely. But then you watch, and though they are dancing the same steps- EACH has nuances of their own. Their swing, their hand motions and lifts.
It makes you appreciate EACH even more.

I don't think this dance says anything about who's better. The whole thing is mostly in Fred's more restrained style, so even side by side you can't really compare them.

Hate to be pedantic.........no, I don't. Much of what you say is wrong. Kelly had a Dance School with his mother and they taught a variety of dance styles, not just ballet. He had a vaudeville act with his brother, Fred. He wasn't discovered by Hollywood - he was a new star on Broadway in 'Pal Joey' and was asked to come to Hollywood. Kelly's musical career as a dancer was over by the late 50s - the period you're speaking of is the late 40s and early 50s. There were balletic elements in

I don't think you're being pedantic, you are just correcting my half-remembered inaccuracies. One thing I do remember though, very well, was that I met Kelly in London in 1974 and he is my Number 1 favourite performer, ever, and always will be.

fred danced sice he was five, had a career on broadway before he went to Hollywood in 1933, played several instrument and wrote music and did 3 of them together sometimes, Gene said all dancers should give him the credit he deserves, but your probely write, he only can dance. Can you ?

a very long time ago (in an other galaxy) I made the comment that comparing Fred and Gene is like comparing aplles and pears. they had both very differnt styles therefore no compettition,they were friends. And yes it,s very oke to like Gene more but it,s immature to say Fred "can only dance" you can like the other more without diss the other,I like Fred more but I also love Gene. Thank you very much for the enjoyment of watching these two great entertainers perform. Reminds me of rainy Sunday afternoons when I was a kid and plopped down in front of the tv watching old musical comedies.
