Video Stream Description:
Nguyen stops Rosado, remains undefeated
UNCASVILLE, Conn. -- Dat Nguyen, a 2001 Baldwin High School graduate, stopped Edwin Rosado in their featherweight fight at the Mohegan Sun Casino on Saturday. Nguyen improved to 5-0 as a professional with his third knockout coming at the end of the third round in the scheduled four-rounder. "I
caught him with a good left hook, so he was wobbly when he got back to his corner,'' Nguyen said via phone. "He was hurt and couldn't come back out for the next round.'' Nguyen said he listened to his trainer, former world champion Buddy McGirt, and then worked Rosado's body. Nguyen weighed in at
127 1/2 pounds on Friday and said he was about 133 at fight time. Rosado weighed in at 132 1/2, but was coming down in weight class. "He fought his last fight at 140-something, so he was bigger and stronger than me,'' Nguyen said. "He basically came into this fight to upset me, so I had to take ca
re of that.'' Nguyen said he worked the body after discovering that Rosado's chin was solid. "He was a tough kid,'' Nguyen said. "After the first round, I just went to the body and he was hurting but he kept pushing. He had a lot of heart. At the end of the third round, I just caught him with a
1-2-3 combination and my left hook, I caught him with it at the end as he pulled out of a clinch.'' He was pleased with his second fight in the last 21 months. "I think it was a good fight for me, my second fight back in a longtime,'' Nguyen said. "I was about 80 percent. I know that I can be a
lot better though.''

I would bet on ... ( 7 months ago by dejavuzone)
I would bet on Pacman too at this point but eventually in a year down the road... Dat Nguyen will be up there and he will knockout Pacman! Nguyen has all the tools to beat any fighters... Right now he needs the experience!

Let me ask you this, how many well known Vietnamese boxers do you know? No No, let me rephrase, how many Vietnamese boxers have won world class titles?
C'mon now, you ... ( 7 months ago by pabny4)
C'mon now, you don't really want to see this guy fight Pacquiao in a year. Way too soon. At this point, he shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as Pacquiao... even as Manny's younger brother Bobby.
Slow down people, s-l-o-w down... there you go!

Pacquiao was a bumb ... ( 6 months ago by dejavuzone)
Pacquiao was a bumb before he was revived by well known world class trainer Freddie Roach. He is only where he is at because he beated a few good fighters on the downhill side of their career while Pacman is at his prime. He has improved a lot difinitely but he's nothing but a good slugger. A good stronger hungry fighter with skill would beat Pacman anyday but that's boxing and fights like that will not happen when you're the "golden boy" and everyone is shooting for you to make some dough.
EVERYONE KNOW STYLE ... ( 6 months ago by dejavuzone)
EVERYONE KNOW STYLE MAKES FIGHT so any fighter can be beaten. Looks like Dat Nguyen is heading the same route as Pacman. He has a lot of protentials that the outsider hasn't seen yet!
Dirtbag! Look at ... ( 6 months ago by dejavuzone)
Dirtbag! Look at the stat of vietnamese boxers out there...there's probably less than a handful of them and the stat of Philipino boxers that's probably a million to one Pacman who actually made it this far and ofcourse I dont blame the FLIPS that takes great pride in him. I see Dat Nguyen protentials and soon he will be a world champion to represent his people. So mark my words and ask all the people who know him personally and they tell you "he will be champ oneday!"
You sure dont know ... ( 6 months ago by dejavuzone)
You sure dont know anything about boxing. Style makes fight and fighters grow as their confidence grows. Pacquiao is only a name and Bobby is a real slugging bumb. Dat Nguyen would KO him in 5 rds but only if Dat dedicates himself and be in great-shape because I know of his protentials. I've seen him sparred world champions that's 2-3 weight classes above him and he certainly impressed me.
He gets hit too ... ( 6 months ago by polkaspotsss)
He gets hit too often. That's the main reason I doubt him. And he's 24. If he's 24 and he's not KNOWN, then...I mean I have faith in him, but I'm a realist.

Manny P. just gained his third world championships (in 3 weight divisions). Dat? Next week fights a 10-10 KO or be KO'd. Talk about a set-up fight and a slugging bum with no skills. You need to change that "one year" prediction and be a little more realistic. Better start with Bobby first... in maybe a year or two.

Reasonable little fighter.A bit face first.McGirt will get rid of that in time.Decent hand speed {Not sure what "looks like he's got good handspeed" means !!!! Either has good handspeed or doesn't}. Seems to hold a punch well @ this level too.One to keep an eye on.
