That's just not true. Talentwise he's far, far up there. But he did lack in one area where Mayweather excels, namely defens. Floyd is one of the best defensive fighters of all time and people don't respect that enough.

Absolutely disagree 17brandiff. If Jones doesn't catch him good in the early rounds, Calzaghes stamina will win through just like it did against Hopkins.
"but his speed will break Calzaghe down in the later rounds" He doesn't have the stamina anymore to mantain his speed into the later rounds.

Disagree WH15ky Roy is no Hopkins, now don't get me wrong Hopkins was a great fighter but he made a big mistake for fighting way over his prime. Jones is just leaving his prime he is about to be 40 pretty soon Calzaghe ain't that far away either at 36 so they are both digging their selves a ditch in this fight but when it comes to talent and speed it's Jones. Jones does posses that speed and stamina and endurance but Calzaghe is a fighter who throws light flurries Roy throws heavy flurries!!!

Now Calzaghe does posses a better work rate but he just doesnt throw his hands right he slaps and never hurt Hopkins in the last fight and barely won against a man who is near 50 now that should tell you something, he body movement is sloppy at times thats the reason why he got KOd in the 1st round of the fight Jones is a excellent fighter and his body movement is perfect and his hand speed is amazing and will win over Calzaghe in the 11th round maybe the 12th if he can neutralize Jones speed!!!

As old as Hopkins is, he was considered the no.1 light heavy in the world. And nobody beats Hopkins convincingly. "he got KOd in the 1st round of the fight"??? He got caught by a good right because he was a bit over eager to get in about it. Btw it was just a knockdown not a KO, he got straight
back up and got the job done.

I'm a big Hopkins fan not that much of a Jones fan but Jones could beat Hopkins right now "not with a big win even maybe a draw" , Now if they had fought about close to 5 years ago Hopkins would've destroyed him, Hopkins still can and has a chance of beating Jones even Calzaghe which was a close enough fight for Hopkins to deliver a KO but didn't happen!!! It's all based on fighting styles in boxing not who can beat who now you tell me how can Calzaghe deliver a win against Jones???

Your telling me 43 isn't close to 50 now that tells me something about ya math!!! He only had one fight in nearly two years he wasn't fighting as much as he did 5 years ago all it took was a slapper to get by and win rounds by missing most of his punches and not landing any power punches, He only won on aggressiveness and it was Calzaghe worst fight I have ever seen despite the way I dislike his fighting style and how he throws punches,He got caught by a Ko down because of his fighting style!!!

Kessler, an unbeaten champ 7 years his junior at the absolute peak of his career, that's Calzaghes greatest moment, not an aged Hopkins or an over the hill Jones. I don't even think he should be considering Jones, beating Jones now means nothing. He should be going for Pavlik.

Jones is near 40 (because he is 39) to say Hopkins is near 50 would suggest that there are 10 years between Hopkins and Jones, whereas there are in actual fact only 3.
Are you in any way beginning to see how your over dramatising of Hopkins age is so grossly inaccurate?
