I would love to see the Reboot!Star Trek cast do this episode...I wonder what the next two movies will have in them...

this episode is the best, wonder if they could do a different story with the same premise. Like to see the actors from the new movie do it.

I love this episode, but... why weren't shows better thought out back then? Yeah, we all know the "everyone speaks english" problem, but we suspend our disbelief because it's foundational to the show. But why even go here: The guardian says "I am my own beginning and my own end", then a couple minutes later "I was made to offer the past in this manner. I cannot change". Um, but you made yourself... One of Star Trek's many obvious shallow God parallels. And why is the past in black and white?

Theft, resisting arrest and an assault (Valcan nerve pinch) on an officer. Tsk tsk.

It's implied that being on the planet near the Guardian protects them from the changes in the timeline. It's happened in Star Trek plenty of times, such as the "Temporal Wake" in First Contact or the Temporal Shields in Year of Hell. This appears to set the precedent :)

Don't they have more than one transproter room?

Joan Collins = the ultimate Star Trek babe!! This is not the only time in the series that someone escapes ship's security and gone to the transporter room and transported himself somewhere. You would think that they would have the transporter room better guarded. Chase commercial: The woman looks quite elegant. The guy looks like some lunch bucket Joe. They do not seem to belong together.

Well, Spock is half Vulcan-half human, so the Guardian probably figures that the intersection of Spock and the rest of group is Earth, so Earth's history XD

After Kirk and Spock ask the guardian some questions, the guardian says "Behold....a gateway to your own past- if you wish." Then images of Earth's past are presented. But Spock is from Vulcan, Earth's past has nothing to do with him!

You are forgetting that Kirk has Spock...always at his side.

Not in this case, the answer is in the title. Edge of Forever. That Being and Machine, the time portal, had the power to allow travelers to enter anytime period. The reason why crew was not altered as such, was because that portal and force behind it was apparently outside time and space. With the crew being adjacent to it, it was being protected by the "eternal" powers. Therefore they were not altered, but could go back if they had to do correct history.

Not one of the best episodes, despite the awards. IF Enterprise ceased to exist because of McCoy, then they would ALL cease to be, also, n'est-ce pas?

See, you must understand that in a real scenerio, a commission Captain out in outer space can do what *&%%% he wants!!!! If Sulu even trys to attack the captain, he would just be confined to quarters,.....smelling like piss too!!!!!, and then get court martial for hitting the captain. What he gonna tell the panel? The Captain pissed on me?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
