Best of PBC 2018: Fighter of the Year

PBC's 2018 pick for Fighter of the Year goes to ... 154-pound unified world champion "Swift" Jarrett Hurd!

Hurd entered 2018 already a world champion, having defeated Tony Harrison on February 25, 2017, for the vacant 154-pound IBF world title, but it was in 2018 that he cemented his legacy as a force to be reckoned with at 154-pounds.

On April 7, 2018, Hurd faced off against tough Cuban and then fellow champion Erislandy Lara in an attempt to claim the title of unified champion. It was a hard-fought battle which likely would have ended in a majority draw had Hurd not dropped Lara in spectacular fashion in the 12th and final round, securing a split decision victory.

Hurd then went on to defend his titles against Jason Welborn on December 1st, scoring a 4th round KO victory.

And that is why Jarrett Hurd was our pick for Fighter of the Year for 2018, and we can't wait to see what he can accomplish in 2019!
