Jimmy Butler and Joel Embiid on bad blood in Game 4: ‘We knew it was coming’ | 2019 NBA Playoffs

After the Philadelphia 76ers win an intense Game 4 vs. the Brooklyn Nets to take a 3-1 series lead, Joel Embiid and Jimmy Butler both agree that they knew an altercation was coming in the series after Jimmy Butler was ejected in the third quarter for shoving Jared Dudley, who ran up on Embiid prior to that. Butler adds that if anyone comes at Embiid again, he will do the exact same thing and Joel points out he will pay the fine. Embiid and Butler stress how important it was for the 76ers for win this game and Embiid (5:18) jokes that he doesn’t want Philadelphia to blow a 3-1 series lead like the Golden State Warriors did in the 2016 NBA Finals, which causes Butler to storm off laughing. Embiid thinks he shouldn’t have got a flagrant foul that led to the altercation between the Nets and 76ers and he says that he didn’t retaliate more after Dudley’s shove because he is ‘more important to his team” than Dudley is to his.
