not gay,,,,this was made back when the music was more important than the video,,,remember the time before mtv when bands had to make good music to get on the radio? bands had to be heard before they were seen. sadly its the other way around today.

that's kinda true. I'm from canada and never think of florida as part of the bible belt...especially cuz you have Miami, a cosmopolitan city.....but i'm sure you have yur share of hicks and good ole boys.

The video is not gay, just totally '80's (it tells a story). Great song, maybe their best! BTW, I agee that Jax is "The South", but certainly not Miami/Dade County. Anything south of Gainesville isn't, me thinks.

100% right. I am from Chicago but also line in "south Florida" Monroe county(The Keys for you non Florida people). Ive been in Duval County many times(Jax) and you want to meet the nicest true southerners you'll ever meet, go there. It's like visiting the past the people are so friendly, even to us yankees who now live here.

I'm from Florida. SOUTH Florida, and also the Orlando area, is NOT considered the "south", I agree with Willlee on that. BUT everything north of Lake Okeechobee, especially Jacksonville area is absolutely the "south". you can't get more southern than Jacksonville, but its location is the northern part of the state!

I was raised in Florida panhandle. It felt like the South to me. But, I knew exactly what he meant. I am used to the insults about not being from the South. I was just playing him out a bit.

Florida is in the south but it is not "the south". It's mostly tourists and inhabited by transplants from other states. The other southern states view Florida as a northern state that floated down here gradually. Not literally of course.

I remember sitting back drinking with friends and jamming to this song.Times back then were so much easier all around and,now we all seem to be looking for answers.Glad to have songs like this to remember the good ole days with friends that are no longer with us,thanks for posting 38 Special.

Back in the 80's (I was a teenager) and was getting a divorce and went to this club dance hall like place and the band would play 38 special songs-- as Ryan Reynolds said in Just Friendss- Good times!!! Brings back good memories. Going to pick up a 38 Special CD soon as I love 38 Special.
