The direction is awesome, the acting superb a film with real conviction and a deep spirituality. I saw it on the big screen, and it was an incredible experience. All nonesense no ... In 1989 a 30th anniversary edition was released on video, and after the movie there was a lenghty documentary added which went into great detail about the race. They interviewed, among o ther people, Joe Canutt, the stuntman who doubled for Heston for a few frames. Fascinating stuff. If you ever come across it, give it a look. You won't be dissappointed.
