Is this meant to be a comedy? At what point was I supposed to laugh? Looks like a depressing drama.

Ideal was def a slow burner (sorry). Thought I'd never miss it, but now it's gone... Duff wrote seven (7!) series in the time that Grant and Naylor wrote 3 of Red Dwarf. Ok, so there were some dips in quality (it only got going after series 4 imho) but still got a few decent jokes in per episode - you could say it was quantity over quality, but as it got more surreal in the later episodes it got better!
