Hagler fought the perfect fight. For all you ignorant yanks dissing Sibson as a "bum", Hagler knew full well that if he tried to mix it with Sibson in the early rounds there was a good chance of him being K.O'd, such was the power of Sibsons left hook. He showed Sibson a lot of respect and fought to win,not to show off.

whoever mentioned Hatton and Mayweather. Hagler was in the era of fighters. Fighters. Guys who fought like Hagler/Hearns/Duran/Leonard. Mayweather is a big mouthed mover.. We have seen them before. They win but they never do anything we remember.

I remember reading in Ring Magazine once that Sibson tried to shake hands with Hagler at a press conference and Hagler said to him, "If you touch me again, I'll knock you out right now" or something, and psyched Sibson out. Didn't matter really, he would have knocked him out anytime they fought.

When your opponent has such a reach advantage the way Hagler did, you have no choice BUT to get in close, just to get into punching range. The aggressor is usually in the centre of the ring as Sibson was and did all the chasing and going forward, but Hagler circled him and kept getting his punches off first and then moving.

honestly,know this will draw howls,but hagler never looked that awesome,just liek a super strong club fighter,who got hit alot!!i wudda like to see him v another guy like that b-hop,or fullmer,or hurricane carter,dick tiger..i dont think he cudda beat monzon n definitely not roy jones in his prime..just not that impressed with speed,power,boxing "skill"just a super tough,very well conditioned guy but against some of these others..

nothing wrong with sibbo's heart here - he took shots and traded with 'the' man - all respect to Tony - I dont think toney or jones would have faired much better - despite what the asshole below wrote - fullmer FFS ??? Carter ??? hagler was the greatest of his generation and when he had his belt 'stolen' by leonard it was the biggest injustice the fight game has ever seen! hagler took the fight to leonard and leonard knicked the last few 2nds off each round, hagler clearly won the fight & thats why he never stepped in the ring again!!!

The best fight ever would have been Sibson v Benn. Both fighters loved a tear-up. Pity they were not the same age.
