Jesu, Bleibet Meine Freude," and several other Bach compositions.

The St. Thomas church in Leipzig has got two organs, the romantic Sauer organ (1889/1908), 88/III, and the new "Bach Organ" by Woehl (2000), 61/IV. This organ played here isn't the old Sauer but the new Woehl organ. ----- Die Thomaskirche in Leipzig hat zwei Orgeln, die romantische Sauer-Orgel (1889/1908), 88/III, und die "Bach-Orgel" von Woehl (2000), 61/IV. Die Orgel in diesem Clip ist nicht die alte Sauerorgel, sondern die neue Woehlorgel.

This is truly an awesome piece of music. To see it played on a genuine full sized pipe organ is beautiful. I hope to visit that church one day just to see the organ.

This is an honest question, so don't take it the wrong way; but what is the generally accepted policy on taking artistic liberty with Bach's music? Did he intend for us to improvise some parts? I ask because I hear so many different versions where trills are added where they are not written, as well as some parts being played double-time (like the feet part at 6:45,) breaks where they are not written, and chords played in different inversions than as they are written. Why is this?

Bach was a master improviser, and it is highly likely that he himself would take a few artistic liberties in his own performances. Generally, this is accepted and even admired, especially in people who want to approximate Bach's style and/or the practices of his period.

Simply wonderful! Like the extemporisations, I think this kind of thing is highly appropriate in Bach's music, when tastefully executed.

Playing in a church is a fantastic experience the acoustic and the atmosphere is so perfect.
