    @GlamMetalSucks You are 100% wrong Rockabilly was PRE Rock and Roll. rockabillyhall . com / WhatisRockabilly . h t m l

  5. Nov 24, 2009 at 11:35 PM by fragellin

    listen to the koffin kats or zombie ghost train or three bad jacks all modern rockabilly and they they hardly have any RnB, Gospel, blues or any other black influence

  6. Nov 24, 2009 at 06:11 PM by GlamMetalSucks

    195477 : The majority of the white population didn't really know about it until 51 when Alan Freed used the term to describe the RnB music he aired. Rockabilly didn't come first. Rockabilly is what they called the music of the white American Rock N' Roll musician in the mid 50s. I don't think you understand that Rockabilly is not a genre. Its just a fabricated style made up by the mainstream. Come on why isn't Maybellene by Chuck Berry considered a Rockabilly song?

  7. Nov 24, 2009 at 06:10 PM by GlamMetalSucks

    195477: Oh my god you don't know what your yapping about. Ok you need a lesson. Rock around the cock was not the first Rock N ROll song. Rock N Roll was invented by Black musicians who mixed different genres, like Blues, Gospel, Country, RnB, Swing, Folk into one. Rocket 88 was one of the first to incorporate all of those into one. Rock N Roll was said to be in the black community for a long time. You can find Rock n Roll in the 1920s, 30s and 40s.

    True he always needed reassurance that he had performed well in every performance he gave. I was fortunate to see him live on several ocassions and belief he did perform well.god bless you Gene thanks for the music you left behind.

    I think you are right , with the proviso that Gene probably gave Elvis the idea of wearing black leather for his 68comeback tv show. Of course it was Jack Good that gave Gene the leather look for the boy meets girl tv show which was the spin off from the oh boy show. Im sure I will be shot down in flames if Im wrong!!!

  12. Nov 21, 2009 at 12:07 PM by 195477

    @GlamMetalSucks No it didn't . Rockabilly came first it grew from Country music going back to the 20s. Rocket 88{51} was not a Rock and Roll song but a mixture of swing and blues. The first R&R song was Rock around The clock,anything else before this would fall into another area,blues,gospel,country,Jazz etc. Elvis did Rockabilly 54/55 but Rock and Roll came100% AFTER Rockabilly.

    nileqt1987: No you're wrong sweet cake. Little Richard first recorded in 1951. Elvis 1953. "Little Richard started in 1951 as a blues artist, he didn't find success as a rock'n'roll artist instead until 1955." Little Richard played Jump Blues, which is practically Rock N Roll with the name 'jump blues'.

    195477 :Rockabilly is a made up style of Rock N' Roll. The term Rockabilly means Rock N' Roll mixed with Country music which was called Hillbilly music ages ago. "Rocabilly came before R&R." No. Rockabilly is Rock N Roll played by white artist in the 1950s, which had a strong country influence. Rock N Roll was here since the 1940s some say even the 1930s. There is no way that Rockabilly came before Rock N Roll. It would make no sense. Elvis was not the first RNR artist

  15. Nov 17, 2009 at 07:25 PM by nileqt1987

    Wrong. Elvis Presley was already a recording artist before Little Richard and Chuck Berry were recording. Chuck Berry didn't record until 1955 and while Little Richard started in 1951 as a blues artist, he didn't find success as a rock'n'roll artist instead until 1955. Elvis made his first recording in 1953 and released his first record in 1954.

    Sorry, but I have to disagree. I've seen interviews with the early British Invasion rockers and nearly all of them cite Bill Haley, Gene Vincent, Buddy Holly, Carl Perkins, and Elvis as well as the early black rockers as influences. A lot of those bands though were really trying to sound like pre-rock American roots musicians. Post-war Britain was crazy for pure American blues, which was a huge influence on bands like the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, etc.

    GlamMetalSucks.....Rockabilly like Hill billy was a phrase a lot of people used so as not to have a black connection,billy being a country phrase.Elvis was known as The Hillbilly Cat at first but as you say it was more than just country.Elvis was on The Sun label for only 16 months and was mixing blues with country and then gospel to become R&R.Rocabilly came before R&R although a lot of songs could be classed in both.Heartbreak Hotel was recorded in Jan 56 I have always thought this song..ctd
