Marvin Hagler -vs- Thomas Hearns 1985 | Part 1

Uploaded by: datman2000

Video Stream Description:
It's hard to top this fight. It's as classic as any slugfest and will always be an iconic fight due to the fact that it matched, arguably the two best boxers in the world at that time. --Rotoscope
By Matthew Hurley: It's hard to believe that it's been almost 20 years since Marvelous Marvin Hagler and Thomas "Hit Man" Hearns stepped into the ring and waged war on one another. Their epic battle for the middleweight championship of the world, on Monday, April 15, 1985 set a criteria for every
super-fight that followed. A super-fight, and by that boxing fans and writers mean a mega match-up between two of the best in their division, has to live up to its hype. There have been quite a few terrific super-fights since then but none have really seemed to capture the imagination of everyone, m
ainstream media included, in such a positive and glorious light. Some might argue that Hagler's bout with Sugar Ray Leonard surpassed Hagler -- Hearns in terms of hype, but the outcome, a Leonard decision victory, left a bitter taste in many a mouth. With Hagler and Hearns there was nothing but asto
nishment at their will, their desire, and despite the brutality of his loss, even Hearns' fans came away from the fight thumping their chests with pride for the gallant effort the "Hit Man" put forth.

He wanted to show ... ( 6 months ago by ianbillen)
He wanted to show he had skill (which he very much did)as a boxer and could beat Ray at his own game. Hagler would of been able to possibly get close to pulling that off if it were three fights earlier. Now his reflexes, and a bit of his speed and stamina were less. Regardless he very well may of won that fight anyway. Crazily Hagler was kinda nervous in the first and second round??? Ask Leonard, he even noted that in an interview. Not of Ray but the event itself which they both dreamed about.

God i miss this great boxing era i dont think we will ever see the likes again.
As a kid growing up in Scotland we were rationed to a couple of tv fights every now and then.I remember when Hagler demolished Minter at Wembley. The English crowd couldnt handle it and trashed the place, hurling beer cans into the ring.Still they did put up a better fight than Minter!

I'll answer that: in both fights, Cooper's eye literally exploded and both fighters became covered in gore. You don't keep a fight going when blood is gushing out of a cut without stopping.
