Asian cosplay and American cosplay are on exactly the same lines. You just see Asian cosplay as being better more often because that's the area the cosplay ideas come from. I can name a million non-Asian cosplayers that are amazing: JenxtheJinx, TouchMyKeyblade, TouchMyMafia, DemonicGaara, AntiquityDreams, CrushMyVelvet, Marulight, etc. It really is based on the effort, not the race.

but tell me why is it so hard to find a real good Westerner that can cosplay anime,the only western that can rarely pull it off are usally super hott females, plus japan is the sourse and the mother land of all anime cosplays, japanese have been cosplaying longer then westerners so the japanese our of course pros at it and to tell you the truth not many westerner, put alot of effort into ther cosplay ive only seen very few trust me ive seach the net so many times only found three decent ones

Nope- I'm saying that they both have ones that suck and ones that are really good. By the way, I'm Asian as well. I don't think one's better than the other. It's just how much effort you put into it and how well the individual, not the race, fits into the character.

I appologize but the reason Dragon Ball Z was popular is cause "westerners" liked it o yeah and Goku starts Japanese and turns American to get stronger so get a Japanese dick (we all know its only big in hentai) and suck it. Americans cosplay needs to photoshopped theres badly the things ive seen, then again even when american photoshopped there cosplay it looks even worst then there original "most of the time" but how would you photoshop live cosplay??? come to japan or watch live japanese cosplays and see for your self

buddy, pretty much every pro looking cosplay picture is photoshopped thats why it looks so good duh usually its just details like changing the eye color, the background or erasing pimples etc

I just wanna say that you should focus on comparing yourself to the character. It's always good to look back and see how you've improved, but you are dressing as a character first and foremost, and that's where all the focus should be.

so your saying we have alot more fail cosplay then yours you can keeping telling yourself that but in truth everyone knows westerners dont fit well when they cosplay as our chars, they look too cheesy, and everyone knows this for exemple in your movies when an westerners plays a geisha or a ninja people all over even americans gets angry because they look corny doing it thats why when westerners try to make a live action anime movie they end up failing

Those are only ones that are online. There are ELEMENTARY kids out there doing cosplays that look almost nothing like the character they're cosplaying. Yes, there are horrible American cosplays as well, but it's not only a FEW horrible Asian cosplays. It's a LOT.

like i said are make up are diffrent for your and you keep refering to ProudPureAsian you make it sound like we are photoshopping when we cosplay ,oh and i forgot to say that some are cosplays are cosplayed by paid models, western cosplays are more on creep and awkward they made a movie about it to called Dragonball Evolution, its said that it was one of the worst movie of 2008 hollywood have all that money and not even one good western cosplay in that movie that western goku was a complete fail

Yeaaah, I've seen actual asian street cosplay before and it looks nothing like proudasians posted pictures. You really can't tell when a picture is photoshopped? Maybe where you come from people have no pores, no noses, blurry glowing white faces, and eyes the size of headlights, but not a single asian I have ever seen in my life looks like that. There are awesome asian cosplays, I already said it, but the excessive photoshop ruins it and makes it creepy and ugly.

why do you keeping calling our cosplays photoshopped, your only proving my point westerners will not admitte that are cosplay are awesome instead they call it photoshopped, ive look at non- asian cosplay many times before in my school just to have a good laugh and it does not look as near as good as ours, go to the streets of akihabara or osaka even where im from hokkaido you will see what i mean, we are not photoshopped, insulting and funny at the same time about comparing MJ to cosplay lol

There have been several people that have proved it wrong, just do a search for "non- asian cosplay" or "western cosplay." The stuff proudasian shows is extremely photoshopped, (badly in my opinion) and frightening. I also disagree that "most" anime looks asian. The most asian looking characters I've seen so far are from studio ghibli but all in all, most anime doesn't look human and the closest looking person would have been Michael Jackson.There's great asian cosplay AND western cosplay.

i didnt say every character i said most and from what ive seen in this country and mine is that most asians cosplay anime characters better i have yet too see a western cosplay that rivals ours, you are welocme to prove me wrong

Fair enough, but which would you rather see as an English Vampire hunter, French medieval knight, european queen/princess, etc... I think it's silly to suggest that asians would be better at every character. I saw an asian girl cosplaying as Eva from MGS3 one time and it was as laughable as the super obese cosplayers that dress as sailor moon. Not every character is asian, not every character has an asian body type. Lets see an asian accurately cosplay anyone with boobs or muscle (for guys).

Even though it came from Asia, it doesn't mean that the characters are all Asian. Some anime have characters that are non-Asian. And also, just because a person is Asian, that doesn't automatically make them a better cosplayer than a Caucasian cosplayer. My cousin, for example, is 100% Korean, but he looks like he's not Asian at ALL. When I first met him, I thought he was on my uncle's side of the family. There are also cosplays out there done by Asians that are HORRIBLE.

all iam saying that we do it better because its came from our conutry so of course we are going to be better, we got the material and make up and like "ProudPureAsian" said before he or she got deleted we have the style and body for it , but at least this comment is more reasonable then the others on here accept for that last part and we are not blind think about it, which one you rather see a japanese being a japnese student or a westerner being a japanese student

Why, thank you! I think that all this arguing is just stupid. Neither is better than the other! I mean, some people think that broccoli tastes like shit (I'm not saying it does...), while others think it tastes good. Same thing. Just an opinion. If you think that one's better than the other, then fine! But that doesn't mean that all the other cosplays are bad as well. I'm really ashamed of all the Asians out there that think that American cosplays suck, because then they're just being blind.
