ridiculous.. Duran ... ( 3 months ago by Boxing1977Boxing)
ridiculous.. Duran kicked the sh** out of Leonard someone said. Then after that he just got paid and lost his anger and intensity? That is why he lost to Leonard in the rematch and 3rd fight? Well dang. I didn't know that. Thanks for clearing it up. I bet Cooney was not motivated on the day which Holmes beat him, but he would have beaten Holmes any other day. I know it!! And don't tell me otherwise because I won't believe you!!! Wow excuses are really something.
This fight here ... ( 3 months ago by Boxing1977Boxing)
This fight here with Moore I just do not like watching. Moore had 11 fights and Duran fans use this beating to think it proves how great Duran was.. But Moore was not great, that is the only variable missing to prove anything. Hearns was great, and Duran was outclassed by Hearns. These are facts people. But let's keep watching Duran beat up Davey Moore and thinking that this is such a great win. It wasn't. Davey Moore was a great guy, but not a great fighter.

d 3d fight dont mean shit. at 160 n duran was way past his prime. ray only took it to avoid another beating from hearns after their2nd fight. a fight he only took cuz ppl said tommy was shot. he had avoided him 8yrs before dat. n he did d same to duran. tell me dis. duran beat SRL n gave him a rematch right away. if ray was better why didnt he have d balls to return d favor? duran was far greater than leonard. so was hearns n hagler. ray was great, but d media only hyped him to look d best

if u notice thats the same ref that did not stop the fight sooner between johnny owen and lupe pintor in what resulted in owens death that was one of boxings darkest hours. R.I.P johnny owen.

1977, I'm going to repeat this for you a couple of times. Your observations on Moore have all the certainty of hindsight. Your observations on Moore have all the certainty of hindsight. They are absolutely fruitless. You can't grasp this. And for fucks sake do some research. Dig out the observations of Al Bernstein. Now, who am I going to believe, an expert like Bernstein or a moron like you. That's a rhetorical question!!! I've got his remarks right next to me on dvd. Go and find them yourself

Also, 1977, you will never be able to understand what I'm about to say, but I'm going say it anyway.
It's really the genius of Roberto Duran that has made you say the things you have about this fight. Now must be so perplexing to your little peewee brain!!!

1977,,its easy to dismiss moore after the fact ,,but moore was a solid favorite going into fight, not many people gave duran a chance, those prognosticators knew of moores inexperience but they also knew of his enormous talent,,duran just like he did in montreal showed when in shape he was dangerous and certainly no pushover,,,this was a great win for duran,,i hinged on every punch,i thought the bigger younger moore was just one punch from putting the finishing touches on durans career,i was wrong
1977,bringing up ... ( 2 months ago by nastylefthook1)
1977,bringing up the 3rd fight to strengthen your argument is plain silly,,,duran weighed 160lbs for third fight and was much older,,this was not the duran who dismantled leonard in montreal,,and rays continual bullshit he spreads about how he didnt fight his fight in montreal is bullshit, two weeks after fight srl appeared with howard cossell who asked why he didnt move and box in montreal,,srl said,,duran wouldnt let me,he was all over me,,,did ray forget,,,now says,i didnt fight my fight bs
The most evil and ... ( 2 months ago by set2light)
The most evil and pitiless display any boxer ever put on. This fight has some of the most pathetic images in boxing history. The only favor the ref gave to Moore was to save his life
While experts had written him off as a has been Duran had Moore completely worked out in his intelligent boxing brain The chilling sneers from Duran reminded an over confident Moore what it means to be in the ring with a legend. Moore realised after it was too late he was less than half the man h

Roberto duran was back to something near his best in this fight we all know roberto liked to party and didnt always train properly for his fights but everyone can see he did for this.Duran was one of the greatest fighters of his era and in my opinion was the greatest lightweight ever, when he stepped up in weight he still fought(and beat at times)the best around duran stepped up in weight to fight srl and beat him(once),if the positions had been reversed would srl have won?my answer..not a chance

I was at this fight!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was an indescribable night. The crowd was electrifying and seemed to energize Duran with frequent bursts of "Duran! Duran! Duran!" chanting. It was a night that can never be topped.

What the hell was with the referee? That guy could have gotten killed. If you look closely, there were guys at ringside yelling to the ref to stop when he finally did and some guy gets in there and says something to him. Probably wondering what he was waiting for.

I agree with the comments about the refereeing job in this fight, it was awful. The fight should have been stopped in the 7th. Also, he didn't see the thumb job earlier in the fight.

Duran Did fight ... ( 3 weeks ago by 1lemurian)
Duran Did fight some great lightweights; Ernesto Marcel, Esteban De Jesus, Ken Buchanon; He Did not offer Buchanon a rematch, however. To move up in weight{skipping 140, mind you, he would've owned Antonio Cervantes or Saoul Mamby}he gave Hagler a tough fight, good, technically sound bout, Benitez, close fight, Hearns....No excuses, he wasn't ready. Some say he fought Arguello off the clock, lost! He's a legend, no doubt, he's had his share of big wins and to fight at 50, balls of pure iron!!!!
Roberto Duran was ... ( 2 weeks ago by Harrygton)
Roberto Duran was the best fighter(pound for pound) that has ever lived! Hearns was the only guy who really beat him... and only because he had a BAZOOKA in his right hand which when landed squarely could take out an elephant! With a slightly different strategy, Duran could have easily defeated him! Notice that he never got a rematch!
Obviously you don't ... ( 1 day ago by Harrygton)
Obviously you don't know Duran! He would never say anything nice about another fighter... not the nicest guy fighter out there! But there is no doubt that at 135 lbs.(Hagler was always a middle weigh... he destroyed, I repeat destroyed all comers, in fact, there was no money to be made since he had pretty much done away with the competition. He had to move up in class to even get any good fighters in the ring with him... fighting Hagler was equal to a -10 handicap in Golf! Hagler was boring!
