cant beleive people hate on roy jones so much with comments on all these videos of him. He won world titles in 4 different weight divisions, even up at heavyweight, he KO'd people for fun! and gave crowds what they wanted to see, the guy is a fucking legendary fighter give him some respect!

oh geez. dude. ruiz was the only dude that was there to fight. after this fight, jones talked to lenox lewis and he said he was going to retire, cause he just beat tyson a while back. roy only went to heivyweight to win a belt not to just fight, he wanted to be the 1st midddle wieght to be a heivyweight champ. and is that all you got sayin he beat a "shot" holyfield? f u hate jones so much y do u look at all of his vids?.. not alot of ppl beat holyfield who is a hall of famer, thats y dey fought

Robinson and Ali are also hall of famers, and they lost to guys like Stan Harrington and Trevor Berbick when they were old and shot. If Jones wanted any credibility at all in winning a heavyweight title, he should have fought Lewis, the lineal champ and consensus #1. Instead of that, he picked the weakest, slowest alphabet champ he could find, won on points running away (at one point even hiding behind the ref), and then when every heavy with a pulse was calling him out, he vacated the title.

jones talked to lewis said that he was going to retire, in which he did. after the fight tarver calld him out t light heivy so thats y jones stepped down, not cause heavyweights called him out. by the time they did jones had already orgaized the figt with tarver. but what other cahmps were there that jones couldnt beat? he could of beaten all of em in the 1st place even lewis. man he aint run for shit he faught his ass fair n square. just an excuse

That's the thing with Roy Jones, it's all could have and would have, but never did. They all say he coulda beaten Benn, Michalczewski, Hopkins in a rematch, Lewis and various others but the risk never seemed to be worth taking. He picked the weakest, slowest heavyweight champ he could find, held onto the title for a year without defending, and then vacated it. If he could have beaten the #1 heavy in the world, why didn't he fight him?

And do a google search and you'll see Lewis was also up for the fight. As was so often the case with Jones, it was all hot air. He was gonna fight Lewis, Holyfield, Tyson, Klitschko and various others. In the end he kept his belt for a year without fighting anyone. I guess Lennox didn't fancy an 80-20 purse split in Jones' favour.
