    Default AdamGB + Hitmanhatton

Just out of interest lads what are your respective amateur records? I think you two are the only ones who box competitively on the boards. (or who have made it know they box competitively)

    lost my first on points
Won 2 in a row on points
Knocked a lad out in 1 punch after that
And then lost my most recent on 1 point... stupid fight I thought like Ricky Hatton... :P should of probably got it but Amatuer Judges don't like to score body shots

    was my 3rd

been boxing about 2 years now, probably just over, would of boxed last season but my dad was in a road accident which set things back. Looking on to next season now. Hoefully I can be more active. I'm getting entired into the regional Novice Championships (sort of like the golden gloves ) in october all I have to do is win 3 fights to win it... from their dunno what I'm gonna do... fighting in a torny like that theres always the chance you'll get an England vest

People go on about the Olympics and beings pro and the camp etc... I just try to focus on what I can do now... had loads of lads in teh gym talking about the Olympics before they even competed but having your first amatuer bout in some social club somewhere will be a big enough step

oh and forgot to mention that despite loosing I got awarded runner up senior boxer of the night (he got best senior boxer) which you normally get for winning a fight but not as impressivly as the over all winner... not that if I had a choice I'd want that over a win of course but loosing and getting 2nd best boxer of the night out of 20 odd boxers isn't bad...

Still think I lost though, maybe not technically but I was unable to do enough to show I'd got it clearly so in that respect I lost :P

Good for you mate good luck. I boxed for the police station when i was at school (nothing great just some fights with other police stations) and also whilst in the navy and i was never particularly good at it. It did teach me how to punch correctly though which i have gone on to develop through my martial arts training, aiming to get more and more power into my shots everytime i train.
Punch power is funny old thing. Ive held the pads for 15 stone dan grade karate black belts and their power was shat because their muscle memory conditions them to pull the punch on impact due to semi contact/point sparring in competiton and punching fresh air in lines. The same class we had a boxer come along who was probably 9 or 10 stone. He then proceeded to displace some of the lads internal organs through a kick shield simply because he trains to hit through the target and uses correct body mechanics.

The martial arts (in addition to judo) i do is more geared toward pre-emtive one punch knockouts (we train and spar for street situations) so power development is something we as a school are always looking to develop.

    Good luck anyway mate.
