Default Scott Harrison's Treatment by the Press and some fan's a like

I think Scott Harrison has been a brilliant fighter and hopefully will be again, but instead of support that he needs and deserves it appears that to many people want to stick the boot in while he's down. The guy is Scotland's greatest ever boxer, yet he get's headlines like 'Scott Harrison The Drunk', which is an absulote disgrace. I urge all boxing fans to email Scott Harrison's Dad's gym with messages of support for Scott. The address is boxer7191@hotmail.com, which is the web address of Scott's Co-Trainer Billy Nelson.

I think it was wrong of a certain promoter to come out and basically say I think Scott is a bit mental.

Have a for that.He has never got the recognition he deserves, especially in Scotland, for one reason or another and it's just sad that he should come to this just when he had a chance of something really big!

That's an insult to Ken Buchanan, and Benny Lynch. I wouldn't put Scott on Jim Watt's level, either.

I agree with the earlier poster, Scotland have produced some really great fighters like Buchanan etc. Harrison has not done enough yet, especially after his last fight, to be ranked with those guys.

Incidentally, you say that he 'deserves' support .............. why is that?

If he is just another drunk, druggy or nutter I would not give him any support at all, so why does this particular one deserve support?

I will send support when it's a fact that he's not mental, drunk, druggie etc....I don't support people that don't support themselves....

I can understand people thinking Ken Buchanan was better than Scott because he was a great boxer, but he is not better than Scott. Harrison has won more world titles fights than any scottish boxer ever, that's a fact. He has also beat more ex - world champions than any other Scottish boxer. Remember Scott Harrison was only 22 when he went to Maddison Square Gardens and beat ex world champ Tracey Patterson on his home ground. He has acheived massive success, and does not get the credit he is due, the facts don't lie. The real shame would be if Harrison never got the credit he's due until about 30 years away.
