A mistake in the addition of the scorecards resulted in Saturday's Marco Antonio Barrera-Rocky Juarez being announced to the Staples Center crowd and HBO television viewership as a draw. However, the scorecards were later retabulated and it was discovered that the actual scores were 115-114, 115-113 Barrera, 115-114 Juarez, so Barrera actually wins a majority decision.
WBC super featherweight champion Marco Antonio Barrera and WBO jr lightweight champion Jorge Barrios both retained their titles in very different ways Saturday night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. WBC super featherweight champion Marco Antonio Barrera (62-4, 42 KOs) has all he could handle against Ricardo "Rocky" Juarez (25-2, 18 KOs), escaping with a twelve round majority decision. Juarez rocked Barrera at the end of round three, but Barrera got his respect back the next round. Barrera had a big round six, but Juarez continued to stalk the champion and appeared to be getting stronger as the bout progressed. Juarez bloodied Barrera's face in the tenth and Barrera's mouth was hanging wide open. Both went toe-to-toe in a very exciting eleventh round. Scores were originally announced as 115-113 Juarez, 115-113 Barrera and 114-114, however the scorecards were later retabulated and it was determined that Barrera was ahead 115-114, 115-113 on two cards, while the other favored Juarez 115-114.

WBO jr lightweight champion Jorge "La Hiena" Barrios (46-2-1, 33 KOs) needed just 49 seconds to destroy previously unbeaten Hungarian Janos Nagy (23-1, 14 KOs). A left hook to the liver dropped Nagy and he was counted out by referee Raul Caiz Jr. as he regained his feet in obvious pain. It was the second defense for the Argentinean star Barrios who won the title against Mike Anchondo in April 2005.
