Default Biggest boxing upset in history

There have been alot of upset's because boxing is a unpredictable sport but I would have to say that Buster Douglas victory over Tyson was the biggest in history. I don't think anybody expected him to leave with the belts that night. CRAZY

I must admit that I was shocked when Shane Mosley was defeated by Forrest, at that time I thought Shane Mosley could not be beaten. I don't know if it was the headbutt that did him in or if Forrest just had his number, but Shane Mosley was never the same after the first round of the Forrest fight.

Yes Douglas/Tyson was the biggest upset ever, not just in boxing, but in sports history, and few would disagee.

Of course, boxing's bad luck was such, it happened the same night as Nelson Mandela being released from Jail, so it was knock off virtually every papers front page.

He had been in jail for 27 years, so surely one more week would not make that much difference? :P

I agree with the notion of it being the biggest upset in all of sports history, does anybody remember the odds in Vegas for Douglas to win that fight. Whoever bet on him made a pretty penny.

Turpin-Robinson is pretty huge too, though Turpin was obviously more of an entity than Buster Douglas was going in.

If this happens i will be able to live of this for the rest of my life

Whoa there guys, what about Clay vs Liston 1? Anyone who knew about Liston will tell you that they had problems getting fights for him because he was that mean in the ring. Yet some loud mouth kid was screaming how he was gonna whip him. Some people actually believed that Liston had him scared crazy.
Would also shout out Don Curry vs Honeygan and when Rahman laid out Lewis. Ain't nobody out there telling me that they saw that one coming

Good point. Alot of upsets we don't mention because the fighter who wins the upset goes on to establish their legacy. Ali went on to become what many believe to be the greatest boxer in the history of the sport. Nevertheless not many people picked him to beat Liston going into that first fight, it was an upset.
