Thread: Ike Quartey Vs Vernon Forrest

I like Quartey

I posted this over a damn month ago, how come nobody cares about this fight.

G, I respect you opinion but i have to go with Forrest. Ike is the not the same fighter with that killer instinct that he had 6-7 years ago. And besides, verno phillips almost kayoed him in their fight. vernon is a much harder hitter than phillips.

I've enjoyed both fighters through the years and was torn between choosing a winner......

with that said, I'm taking FORREST by decision !!

Forrest is a better boxer and should show during their fight,
however, I wouldn't be surprised to see Ike rock Vernon a few times and cause Vernon to back up and fend off the stronger Quartey with his reach.

If this fight has fireworks, a part II may be in the works afterwards and generate even more interest..... personally, I've been waiting to see this match-up since it was announced !!

It's a shame that Ike was ripped off and it just leaves another black eye on boxing. Even with the point deducted for low blows the judges had Forrest winning by a few points. Even at best Forrest should have lost that fight by split decision but some how he pulled off a win. However many thousands of people cannot be wrong. Even the HBO commentators and my opinion all had Ike winning convincly. Prior to the fight I was split down the middle because I like them both as fighters. Too bad Ike still remains underrated and disrespected.

I think after the Winky fight, it will be discovered that Quartey is sub par. Where does that leave Forest?

he beat delahoya (was on the wrong end of 1 of the worst robberies of all time) pretty soundly, he also beat forrest pretty easily (and was robbed again) so its tough to say he subpar

Quartey was on the wrong end of a decision? No. He didn't do anything until Oscar would open up and fight. Like Hagler used to say, you have to come and take the fight to who you want to beat. Wright will beat Quartey in a rather boring 12 round decision. This fight here is easy to predict. Quartey is not the caliber of Thomas Hearns or Oscar Delhoya.
