Jones just maybe really thought he was invincable and found out otherwise ...Roy is gunshy now ,soft chin or not!!,

ps -didnt it feel good to see b-hop take it to Tarver like that ...Tarver alwasy talks big like hes gonna come in and do sothin special ...he talks a great fight ..then goes and fights coutiously ...he deserved a loss ...maybe Tarver will start to fight harder

Roy seemed to have little heart, its a shame, because we need to remember Roy for what he was. Never liked him as a person, but you cant ignore the fact he has been one of the greatest fighters ever, he said himself he is struggling to find the desire within himself...

Marvis frazier said to me ( i train at 2917 broad st now in philly) ...Marvis said you cant let the fight fight itself ..so many naturally good boxers will let the fight play itself out ..and you cant win that way u have to take everything u get ...RJJ stopped taking and started lettin the fight fight itself ...(like glen johnson RJJ is a perfect example) ...RJJ is much too defensive ....he usued be able to beat on people w/ out getting touched ...now he just doesnt get touched 2much after the KOs

im inclined to agree with that, means

both jones and hopkins could have stopped tarver IMO if they had let the hands go somewhat more....

hopkins still has the belief in himself and so he was able to impose himself over 12 rounds...

jones jr had tarver hurt in their last fight but wasnt able to let it all hang out in an effort to stop tarver....

hopkins did me proud last weekend, watched the fight again tonight....an excellent job!!!

the ko's of roy did what they do to a lot of fighters..which is make them doubt themselves, and they sometimes don't respond well to punches after a devastating KO...

But it's getting quite ridiculous for many to think because after 16 years and 50 fights, when roy finally gets hit with what Manny steward called

"a perfect left hand that ROy never saw"

That he can't take a punch. If roy jones went 16 years and 50 fights without getting hit..then he's even better than his fans must've thought...

i see yoru point and agree to an extent ...but it is a fact once u get KOd ...your "brain glue" if u will lol gets unstick along w/ ur brain stem and you are easier to KO if youve been knocked cold before ...(notice how Tarvers punch really messed RJJ up ...THEN glen johnson knocked him cold ...anyway i'm sure your right its ostly phsycological but that is a fact about being easier to KO

BUT yes your right in RJJs case...RJJ is so skilled it is all in his head cause he used to never eaven lose rounds ...and he could still box in & out and land his shots and get out but hes too unsure now or scared of gettinghit

Or Hopkins whupped on a weight drained fighter that is not busy anyway, and his style (with lead right hands) was perfect to that to him. ie He did to Tarver what Tarver did to Roy

nah roy won the weight drained fight...and tarver won third fight by knocking roy out in the second fight...he completely got in his head...much like the korean judges screwed him up so badly that he didn't want to fight overseas anymore..much like he stopped really mixing it up after he saw G-MAN injured against Benn...Roy Jones has always been carried by his brain power, and once that was shattered on anything he never gets over it....

roy could have done tarver much much worse than hop--takingnothing from hop--but a focused, even remotely close to prime RJJ would pick apart tarver and kayo him easy

tarver bever had great stamina to begin with and roy was always in great shape--after draining down to 175 afetr dismantling ruiz he was and is just done--period............sad but true--it happens to everyone if u hang aroung too long which is why i commend hop for walking away at this point

remeber Tarver saying "does Roy think hes the only fighter who ever had to sweat down??"

I think the few times in the third fight Roy did throw punches at Tarver he completely overwhelmed Antonio with speed and power... no doubt in my mind he is physically capable of beating still most of the fighters out there, but without his mind truly confident he might not even beat fringe contenders because he isn't what he once was... he's still very fast, and strong, but not quite at the level he was.

sometime it is heart that makes a fighter great ....Roy got lucky that his chin was never tested early....Roy now is like Tommy hearns-minus the heart......he mioght have the physical gifts but the mental is gone....

Jones has the physical ability to beat anyone middleweight, SMW or LH in the history of the sport....he was a phenomenon in his hay day.
