Thread: Say if Hatton did fight Floyd at 147, would you advise him to go in light??

I was thinking last night that if Hatton fought Mayweather at 147, i think he should go in light, we know Mayweather will go in at around 147 on fight night, so maybe Hatton should maybe weigh in about 142/143, what do you think?? I think Hatton lost alot of his intensity thorugh bulking up and he aint getting in with a fully blown Welterweight, i feel his best plan is to maybe go in quite light, what do you guys think??

Hatton and Billy know what weight he can come in at and retain his constant pressure without sacrificing his stamina . Whatever makes him comfortable but if it was at 147 id probably advise him to get as close as he can .

Calazzo was very strong at welter and is naturally a bigger guy. Floyd is coming up from superfeather so Hatton wont be against someone as physically strong as him like Callazzo was. Floyd was outpointing superfeathers whilst Hatton was bullying lightwelters so in that aspect of weight he doesnt need to worry about it .

If Hatton goes in light he will be a bit faster than he would be if he was carrying an extra 5lb's.
But if he goes in heavy he will be able to bully Floyd easyer.
So i thing it can work both ways!

So we are told, but that didnt appear to be the case against Collazo. Hattons had one fight at 147 so we are going purely off gut instinct here, and mine tells me that he was too heavy, when at light welter I think he was entering the ring a touch over 150, I dont see any reason why he would want to go more than a few pounds over that.

Thats true it wit could have been Calazzos punching that slowed him down . We dont know. What we do know is that Hatton will be the physically stronger when he faces Floyd

Indeed, and anyone suggesting that Hatton could beat Floyd solely by being the stronger man would be wrong

I aint too sure about that . Gatti was a superfeather too and he was s****ing himself at the prospect of fighting Floyd . To me Floyd looked the stronger guy

Memphis - Physical strength can play a huge part and whilst I agree it doesnt depend soley on that , I would suggest that if Hatton imposes his style like Castillo did , he can beat Floyd in the same fashion

I think PBF will beat Hatton worse than he beat Gatti...I know the sc's are coming but it's time to face reality...PBF is a legit 147 now and Hatton needds to stay and rule at 140.....I don't think he brings the power with him to 147...not his fault...He can dominate the 140's....leave the 147 for PBF...it will be better for his career...

Hatton should not even be thinking about PBF,he needs to take some fights to get used to fighting@147 and see if he is comfortable! To jump right in PBF now would be foolish and I don't see a Hatton fight coming off,Margarito would make PBF way more money.@147,Tony is also more of a threat. I need to see that fight!!
Back to the thread title,I'm not sure at all! If he's light,will he have the physical prowess to bully Mayweather? Doubt it.However,come in heavy and he might be too slow.To be honest,I think we need to see more of Hatton@147 before deciding,the Collazo fight may have been an off night OR it could be that Hitman is not used to 147.

Hatton better not go in light because he still won't be as quick as PBF no matter what. He might as well keep as much weight so he can bully PBF a bit. If he tries to come in light and think he can box PBF, he's getting TKTFO.
