I reckon it will disappointing to be honest.

Last time out they had a nice mix of youth and experience, with several unbeaten prospectss who could figure to make an impact on the world scene, Manfredo, Ishe Smith, Mora, Joey Gilbert, De La Rosa etc.

Seems that this time around they've packed the show full of Bonsante's and Salmaci's.

Don't see any world beaters in Season 2.

Not sure... Guess they thought more experience would draw the true boxing fans in as a pose to NBC just trying to crank out a reality show with fresh faces...

Yeah they seem to have gone for the more experience, but i thought the contender was mostly about up coming fighters looking to make a living out of the game. How many years would most 30 something fighters have left in boxing?
From what i remember the first show had $1 million dollar prize for the winner and maybe many of these fighters are just looking at that prize rather than what they can achieve beyond it. I hope not because i think the first series had more to it than that with some quality fighters on show.

Fuck the Contender. Who cares? ESPN doesn't really want a true contender. They just want a good-mid level guy that they can trick viewers into thinking is a star. I mean come on, Sergio Mora? Don't let his 18-0 record fool you, he's only got 4 KOs and was dropped by that slow handed chump in his last fight and got a gift TKO because the ref probably was told by ESPN to stop the fight if Mora ever pinned that Shark guy against the ropes. He's the Paulie Malignaggi of 160, just a big mouth nobody. Except I actually like Paulie and he fought courageously against Cotto. Do you think ESPN would put Mora against someone like Taylor or Winky or Sturm, hell even Duddy? Hell no, they are fooling the fucking public with that bullshit Contender championship shit. That's the problem with Manfredo, ESPN had him fight a shot Pemberton, Manfredo won and got confident and wanted a real fight against a true contender, notice he's not fighting now because ESPN realizes that if Manfredo fought a true SMW contender he'd get blown out of the water. It's not like ESPN is protecting or hand picking opponents for like a Cotto or a Julio or someone with true star power and potential, they are protecting trash. It's insulting to our intelligence to keep hearing about the undisputed Contender championship.

Jesus, I just realized that I freaking hate Sergio Mora. You'd think a guy with only 4KOs in 22 fights would realize that he's probably a weight class or two too heavy. He's talking like he's the shit but he's not even the top draw for the fake ass Contender, Manfredo is. I actually like Manfredo and he's not that bad, he knows that he wants a true fight to see how good he can be because he loves the boxing game. Mora will never fight anyone of substance.

I think you guys will be in for a big surprise!! I know who wins the show since the taping is already done and let's just say I've seen the winner out on a few occasions since the end of the show. Not sure if I should open my big mouth or if it will come back to bite me in the a#$ If there is no way to trace me on here I guess I could spill the beans

A few good points there mate. Maybe the contender is about fighters who may not have went on to be great fighters so the series is another way of getting them recognised. I enjoyed the first series though despite agreeing with some of your comments.

I really enjoyed the first show, hopefully this one lives up to the heights of the first.
