    Default What if Zab Judah...

...Had a much better trainer and was MUCH more disciplined.

We all know he's very talented and quick, but would he have been a better fighter than PBF??

I think Zab has more raw talent then PBF but PBF is much smarter an disciplined fighter and thats what's make him better than zab.

    Any opinions?

No change. Trainer could only do so much. Judah needs a new damn head.

I think he would be better.

Yoel doesn't give Zab too much tangible advice between rounds, it mainly consists of "Let ya hands go!! He gon' run" or words to that effect. It's noteworthy that he's never trained another world champion. Well, save for Mayorga who he recently trained, but Mayorga had already won that title.

Zab's got plenty of natural talent, he can punch, he has good speed, heart, he can put shots together, he can pot-shot when he wants. What he lacks is focus, concentration, fitness (after 6 rounds he becomes notably less effective) and some ring smarts. Against Pineda a couple of years ago, an experienced veteran who knew all the tricks, Zab looked like a damn idiot clowning and showboating, while the fight seemed very close throughout. Think Zab took an SD. Had he not been the name fighter I would say he would have lost. And I'm a Judah fan.

Steward would be good for him. Or Goosen. Guys who strictly focus on certain areas, while keeping and honing their current skills.

how do you replace a chin though?
"Very few people really understand what it means to be a fighter. I hate it when I hear someone say, 'That fighter doesn't have guts. I hate that, I don't care if you're a world champion six times over or a four-round fighter, to step inside that ring, you have to have guts" Oscar De La Hoya

LOL Yeah, Yoel shouts generic advice. I for one would not responded well to shouting. I'm already stressed from getting trounced in public the last thing I need is someone screaming in my face. I'd strangle my father, even with the gloves on I would.

He would be good, but who knows his chin might still not be good enough for him to be an ATG. I think he is more gifted than Mayweather in power, but Mayweather at 140 and down was alot faster than Judah ever was, and he has better twitch reflexes. That being said I think that the mental part is a huge chunk of what makes some fighters great, and others not...

    Zab?

With Zab he could get a new trainer but the question is would he listen to him? Zab has a lot of talent and may be great one day. But he needs not only a new trainer, but a new team, nobody clapping for him and telling him he's a somebody. He's already done one right thing, he's left Don King. Now he can finally get some things together WITH a new team. We'll see what he does. But if Zab hasn't done this by the time he's 30 he never will.

Is it just me or does it look like there might be a bit of dwarfism going on with Zab Judah?
