Default prime Meldrick Taylor vs. prime Kostya Tszyu

Who wins if Taylor fights the same way he fought JCC the first fight. I think Kostya Tszyu is more skilled than JCC was, but doesn't quite have his chin or determination.

Taylor has to much speed. And won't make a stupid mistake like Judah.

    Prime Kostya would slaughter him.

Mental strength alone - first he would get meldrick to stand still then BANG.

Tszyu has negated speed all his career - a PRIME kostya would beat anyone at 140 period.

I think Kostya Tszyu hits harder than JCC, and that Judah might not have faster combinations, but individually his punches are faster and heavier than Taylor's.

Kostya dissected boxers, they gave him time to think and feel his way around. I have heard Oscar and Mosley avoided him(not sure abuot it though) but I feel Kostya would land somewhere and it would soften Meldrick up enough for Kostya to contiunue landing and finish him in the later rounds.

But the thing about Taylor was that he didn't do any of that often, he liked to fight chest to chest and he would beat Kostya because he wouldn't give Kostya ground, you can't really call Meldrick Taylor a "boxer" he did box occassionally but then he got bored and slugges it out. And I think him pressuring Kostya would do its damage and he would beat Kostya late.

I'd take Taylor with a UD... 7 rounds to 5

What an intriging match up. Im finding it very hard to pick a winner, but with a gun to my head i would lean just towards Tszyu.

Good points but I thought the thread was based on how he boxed JCC,and he became tired from JCC banging to the body. IF he did try to stand his ground,Kostya would knock him out even earlier,Taylor does not have the pressure game to hurt Kostya like Phillips and Hatton,I mean they were on Tszyu alllllllll night.

Funny he never fought JCC chest to chest... he kept his distance and only came in time to time to throw a blistering combination.

Tszyu would have beaten him down ! Tszyu was the best Jr Welterweight Champion ever in my opinion

Funny he did, when he did is when Chavez was able to land against him since Chavez never leapt out to get him

His mistake was staying in too long after he threw his shots and he allowed Chavez to hit him once or twice and those 1 2's took their toll.

He did have a better pressure game and a better all around game as I consider Buddy McGirt better then Kostya Tszyu

And anyway I think that Taylor can keep his pressure well and not only that but he had a chin to boot, and I'm not so sure that considering the shots he took from Chavez and the fact that his determination is unmatched by very few fighters I think he would beat Kostya Tszyu and he wouldn't give him the distance needed, you've got to remember if Meldrick is in Tszyu's chest at fast pace then Tszyu can't use his right hand
