Who wins? I would say Ray Mercer was a better fighter than Morrison, but nowhere near prime Tyson, but thisi s the Tyson who was bulked up and lacked his defense he had in the 80's.

I like that match-up. ole Ray Mercer at his best would have given a 90's Tyson fits, especially fresh out of the pins Ray Mercer at 225 lbs and young , knocks out a 90's Tyson IMOOriginally Posted by Taeth
Tyson on points. Nobody knocks out a prime Mercer.
Mercer might just get by on points...Tyson was still good enough to make it close but after jail he never went the distance
I think pushing all those weight around in jail actually hurt him, he was so much faster when he was leaner and 216. he bulked , especially his arms biceps way too much during that prison stretch. I think full extension was compromised. IMOOriginally Posted by Lyle
Tyson was never the same after prison, you could even see before his loss to Douglas that he was slipping. I feel Tyson would do enough to take a close decision

I don't think it was the weight lifting ever as much as just losing the experience of staying in the ring... With his mind he couldn't ever focus again purely on boxing, and thats why he never regained his earlier glory.
Tyson would be strong the first part of the fight but would slow down and get TKOed in the late rounds. The after prison Tyson depended to much on his mystique and trying to land that one shot. He couldnt/wouldnt/didnt put his shots together at all.

I would much rather have seen Tim Witherspoon vs. Tyson.
but anyway, am I to assume the Ray Mercer that fought Larry Holmes wasn't the best Ray Mercer?
