The thing about this is, you wouldn't have any idea of any the names of the top 100... You know, it's journeyman and such that continuously take the most punishment, it's rare that great fighters would wind up with the most damage, as compared to mediocre stepping stone type opponents.. On a side note, I saw an interview on Canadian TV of George Chuvalo, and the guy is actually very witty and has it all together 100%, even though he fought all the great fighters of the 70's and usually took a hell of a lot of punishment. Weird how it affects fighters so differently.
Courtney Burton is one guy that really needs to be watched out for, how many times in a row does he have to be violently knocked out.
Yea, most journeyman will get in the ring for a couple hundred dollors and become a human punching bag. They end up having to wear diapers, but I meant major fighters.Originally Posted by p4pking

Well aside from guys like: Levander Johnson, Deuk Koo Kim, Jimmy Doyle, and Benny Paret who all died from boxing there are guys like
Michael Watson and Gerald McClellan who are permenantly dibilitated from it.
At least David Reid is living a good full life and I do believe he's a trainer now...I hoped the best for him...he's a good guy
Wilfred Benitez is a virtuall vegatable now as well.
Young Ali another who died..Originally Posted by Lyle

I remember seeing a doco years ago.....very sad.
They were human punching bags sent in at classes way above their own by terrible management.
There was an article in this week's Boxing News about Valery Odin, who got some serious brain damage down in London a while ago, and they reckon it's going to take him 18 months, but he will make a full recovery according to the medical opinion of the doc.
I guess it's just a part and parcel of the job, by having the balls to get in that ring and put yourself on the line, there is that possibility of getting hurt. However much doctors do at ringside, and gloves are padded, there will always be a risk come what may. That's why every boxer, at whatever level, will always have my respect for stepping through those ropes.
what happened to Terry Norris?
