Ace cornerman Freddie Roach told The Manila Bulletin late Tuesday morning (early Monday night in the US) that Manny Pacquiao won't get into the ring with Erik Morales if the Mexican weighs more than 132 lbs in their scheduled 12-round super-featherweight brawl on Nov. 18 in Las Vegas. "We will take the money and fight Morales if his weight is not more than 132 lbs," Roach said from the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood, California. "Manny and myself have talked about this and we have both agreed. Manny and I agreed that there's going to be no fight if Morales weighs more than that," said Roach, who began training with Pacquiao for the Morales rubber match on Sept. 20. Morales will have to pay $500,000 for every pound in excess of 130 lbs and not the promotional company Top Rank that's going to shell out the money. The same clause also applies to Pacquiao, who, nonetheless is not at all concerned with failing to meet the 130-lb limit. Morales, according to the World Boxing Council, had weighed 142 lbs over the weekend, and is right on target in his weight reduction program under the watchful eyes of experts from the Velocity Sports Performance. The WBC had imposed that Morales should not weigh more than 143 lbs, exactly a month before the showdown. Meanwhile, Roach said Pacquiao was terrific in sparring for ten rounds with three sparmates, including Vicente Escobedo.
