For your joints/tendons check out Glucosamine.

You can live without fishoil, but if you want the same benefits try flax seed. You can put it in a coffee grinder and add it to any hot cereal.
If you hear a voice within you saying that I am not a painter, then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced.

Fish oil isn't only for joints - it also promotes good health in general (less chances of stroke/heart attack some studies show) along with that it helps in the aid of fighting depression... think what you want but decrease the chances is good in any term. Plus it has GOOD FAT in it (poly and mono), which in turn good fat also aids in the use of bad fat (trans and over-intake of saturated)

Right now I'm a BNS guy (No-Explode, and CellMass) These two supplements ARE NOT BOXING TYPE SUPPLEMENTS. they are to gain, I'm a lifter which is starting to get into boxing (5'9" at 173lbs...) Either way if you looking for a good bit of energy before a working so forth - check into RICE. They have rice bags thats you can put into the microwave for 90 seconds, and boom your ready. Carbs ain't a bad thing if you're using them. I believe 1 of the 90 second bags contain around 50G's of carbs. (I hope you live in the US? Thats where I get'em.) with very little fat, and abit of protein not to mention other decent crap. Its "Uncle Ben's Ready Rice".

Either way it really depends on what you're looking to get out of your supplements, mostly I don't see boxing rebuilding muscle, just making it 'fast' and endurance training. Something I'm just starting to get into.

well a multi-vitamin tablet every day is good for anyone, jl.

I take a fish oil tab and a multi-vitamin every day, occasionally have a protein shake made w/ water after I hit the gym.

Everyone is different, but the main thing to remember is you DONT want food in your belly while trying to do anything (running, lifting, sparring, ANYTHING.)  for most people this means eating 2:30 - 1:30 hours prior to working out.  Figure yourself out.  You'll be burpin' food tastes throughout the whole workout if you've ate abit to late.  I myself eat the rice pack 2 hours to 1:30 hours prior to doing anything.

B6, and B12 are good vitas to take also - 6 increases your blood flow / redblood cell production, which also helps release glucose into the system (which in turn your muscles can use for energy in the raw.)  B12 is abit of the same deal... but it also helps buff the immunity system as well from what I hear.  They help to increase energy, and recovery time from afew studies.  Taking a multivita is a good idea at this point. There are ALOT of vitas that are helpful in sorts of things, most seem to be more preventive then helpful, but I'd rather fight cancer with a pill before it occures, rather then fight it with the doctors on machines when it does come around.

You gotta remember that everybody is different though. I know somebody who cant go training without eating at least half an hour before.

My step-father ( a personal trainer) tells his clients to come to the gym on a full stomach, then warms them up slow and long enough for them to not feel bloated and have twice as much energy needed for the workout.

I need to eat an hour before going (not a big meal) otherwise i get the shakes towards the end.
But then others feel sick if they eat les than 2 hours before a workout.
    Find what works for you.

As for supplements. I take cod liver oil, flaxseed oil, extra potent multivitamins and whey protein.
    Thinking about moving onto creatine.
Id suggest multivits and cod liver oil to EVERYONE. Protein is dependant on how good your diet is.
