Default The Future of Shannon Briggs

I think Shannon's best chance is against Maskev...but he had best stay away from Peter, Toney or Klit. Peter would out stamina him in 3 rounds. Klit would out box him and Toney would out smart him. Valuev is a "maybe." One big payday fight and then go to Hollywood in the next chapter of an interesting life. He has the brains to capitalize on his persona...just do it.

Like his chances against Oleg...only because Oleg is getting older by the minute!! Valuev is another possibility.....Wlad take him out earily....tired of seeing Toney in the HW division.....
It feels good to be back home.

He shouldn't even think about stepping in the ring with klit lookin the way he did against sergei cause I'm pretty sure he'd get ktfo out within 5, I don't care how chinny or whatever we think wlad is, tony would outsmart him I guess, and sam would just keep throwing till one landed flush, and well briggs might land in return but peter's got a decent chin. Oleg well he's old so he might have a chance against him, I'm pretty sure valuev would beat him just by "outstaminizing" him

The future of Briggs is this headline "BRIGGS KNOCKED OUT IN FIRST TITLE DEFENSE!"

With Briggs's stamina issues he is not going to hang onto that belt for much longer. If he fights any of the other belt holders he loses. Did Serguie even train for this fight? Did either of them do road work?

I don't know but I am dissapointed by the fight, I was rooting for lykovich, but even if he won I'd still be dissapointed, because I was just expecting a lot more out of him. Oh well I hope that klit and brock have an exciting fight next weekend to make up for the snoozefest of yesterday.

Briggs better hope to God that Wlad and Sam Peter lose.

Shannon got up for this fight because there was a belt to be won....I doubt he'll be up for the next one against maybe Sultan Ibragimov or the Peter-Toney winner.

I don't even think he has a good shot vs Maskaev I think his best shot is Valuev because he's big but he can't punch or take a punch.....Maskaev is a brawler and just ask Rahman if he can fight.....speaking of which Hasim Rahman wouldn't be that bad of a fight for him

When you think aboout the golden ae of heavies...the 70's....with Shavers, Ali, Frazier, Sir Henry, Quarry, Cobb, Holmes, Lyle and so many others and then jutxtapose them with last night, it becomes bile-inducing. Don't these guys beliebe in road work anymore? Lord help us.

I agree with you, except the part where you say Shannon got up for this fight. He did NOT get up for that fight last night. Had he been "up for it", and seriously trained with no shortcuts, good hard roadwork... He would have KOed Sergei in a couple of rounds.. That was honestly my pick for the fight as well, I thought that Briggs would have gotten into at least decent shape and thrown some hard leather early.. Instead neither guy had anything in the tank after a couple of rounds it was incredibly pathetic.. Sergei had some titties going on, Briggs looked like he just pumped growth hormones or creatine and sat in the gym but did nothing for his endurance/stamina. He said that he had done lots of heavy sparring for the fight too.. I wonder who the hell his sparring partners were, or if he really did any at all. The guy couldn't even keep his hands up and his mouth was wide open in round 2.. I think your dead on though that even Maskaev should KO this guy. It really wouldn't take much. I wouldn't expect him to last more than a couple rounds against Wlad or even Peter, Toney would school him silly, Valuev would probably just outwork him in another terrible fight. I have no interest in seeing Briggs vs anyone.

Maurice Harris(someone who beat Sergei) was his sparring partner.

Shannon will probably get a conditioning coach right now. He's champ.. he cant take any risks right now.

Seeing as i already have tickets, i would like to see him at Superfighter here in Melbourne. He is suited to that format.
