jtrock we've all gathered that your in love with floyd cos you wont have a bad word said against him. but lets not get carried away and try to make out that that floyd has got balls. he went after the welterweight title holder that he thought would be the easiest to beat. yeah baldy was the recognised welter champ but thats only cos he beat judah, and he was in no way the best welter in the division and hardly the best out there like floyd seems to think he fights. and as if fighting the recognised champ of a division has ever been floyds game plan. if it was he wouldn't have considered himself the light welterweight champ when he never actually beat hatton (the recognised light welter champ at the time).

Easy with the insults Junior...I never say I didnt see fault in Floyd the Man and his outlandishness...Just most of you are picking at him for Fighting a PERFECT FIGHT.....I mean C'mon dude seriously..I wish he would shut his mouth half the time, I wish he would endear himself to the fans a little better...But ALi was a prik, Leonard was a Prik...Floyd is markrting himself in a Controversial way..SO What?

But I refuse to rake on him for beating the S*** out of someone in a perfect manner...I wont

Again Who should he fight to satisfy you.....If you say Hatton or Margarito I will laugh my azz off cause if you think Floyd isint legitiment than those boys are light years away from him...

Few experts thought Baldomir would beat PBF...

PBF is not one of the greats. He hasnt fought a great. He beat Castillo but arguably lost to him the other time. Otherwise who did he beat?

He has beaten a lot of fluff...

Get him in against a contender. Hatton, mosley or even Margarito....

PBF is full of nonsense...lets all have a group hug and a cry....nonsense....
You are Kidding Right Hatton hasnt proved to be great....Margarito hasnt either...If Floyd beats Mosely who the general masses thinks he is shot(I dont believe it) but that would be everyones excuse...Not to mention Floyd has been trying to get Mosely in the ring for years.....C'mon Miles your a Favorite of mine but you cant be serious about those 3 names

    LOL cheers dude.

    Anywho, here are some stats from Ricky's last fight against Collazo;

    Hatton; 741 / 259 35%
    Power shots 637 / 254 40%

    Collazo; 712 / 213 30%
    Power shots 471 / 167 35%

And to be fair that wasnt one of Ricky's better performances, but just look at the amount of shots he threw compared to Floyd.

Now i can dig out Ricky's other fights, and can tell ya now the stats will be better

So? Baldomir is better than Collazo.. Im sure Floyd wouldn't have any trouble matching those punchstats if he were to fight Luis instead of Baldomir...

i dunno. collazo is a young fighter on the way up. plus he's a quick, slick southpaw with only one contraversial loss. whereas baldomir is seasoned (could mean he brings experiance, or could mean he's on the slide and been round the block), and pradictable and pretty slow compared to mayweather and colazo.

Yes, and Hatton didn't deserve to win that fight. I don't see what your point is. No one criticized that fight for being boring, they criticized it because Hatton got a gift decision, promised a rematch, and then dropped down in weight to fight some paper title holder named Urango who no one's heard of.

Throwing a lot of shots might make for a more exciting fight if you're just looking for some violence, but it doesn't make someone a good boxer. I mean, lots of fighters are more offensively active than Floyd, but non of them (except Pacquiao) is anywhere on a top 5 P4P list (Winky, Taylor, Hopkins--all defensive-minded counterpunchers). If you want to talk about Hatton and make comparisons, I can see why some people might prefer to watch his fights (I personally don't--I think he's sloppy, unskilled, and relies of wrestling and hometown refereeing), but it's a joke to think he'd stand a chance against a good technical boxer like Floyd. I mean, he couldn't even beat a halfway-decent technical boxer in Collazo.

Floyd did what he was supposed to do. What would have been surprising is knock Carlos out.

Floyd can con his fans, but he won't con me. I know what an elite fighter is... Floyd Mayweather.
But I also know what a true B*d*ss is too. Let me just say Pernell Whitaker is above Floyd.
Roy is above Floyd. Hell, I'd even rate the careers of Morales above Floyd. hahaaha
I know I got a few stomachs turning with that one. But I can name many great names on
Morales' resume. And let me just say, I love Castillo but he ain't no Barrera or Pacquiao...
and may the boxing gods look down on you if you compare Castillo to Chavez or Duran.
Someone who speaks the truth. What some people are failing to realize is that almost everyone can agree Floyd is talented. He just doesn't have the resume to be considered anywhere close to an all time great. People keep bringing up Gatti and Baldo. Two fighters who where perfect for Floyd....slow and not particularly skilled. Anyone with some knowledge knew they didn't have a chance. It's a joke for anyone, including Floyd, to point to these wins as a major accomplishment. The man has been coasting recently...and he and his fans think that most of us are STUPID enough to seriously think he is an all time great. You can show me a million stats JT...it boils down to the level of your competition. Floyd is trying so hard to be an all time great, an icon, a legend.....but he just does not have anything to back it up. He isn't particularly popular, doesn't have the humour or charisma, has no defining point to his career....and most importantly...unlike the true all time greats...he simply has not fought great fighters. Whether that's his fault or not is debatable. But he has no right to think he can be mentioned in the same breath as a Sugar Ray Robinson or an Ali or so many other greats. RIGHT NOW, he is just a very talented fighter. End of.

shza i dunno how many hatton fights you've seen mate but it doesnt sound like youve followed him for a while because if you had you would know his chin, heart, work rate and pressure. mayweather hasnt got the firepower of tszyu and he hasnt got the firepower to keep hatton of him for 12 rounds. if youve followed floyd and hatton you would know that hatton would be all over him like a rash.
and if floyd was trying to become a legend he would be fighting the big boys out there. but instead he's chaseing the $dollar$ sign. and he wouldnt be talkin about retiring if he was trying to extablish himself as a legend.

    Since we bring up resume's.

Floyd wasnt and isnt around in a time where there are Duran's running around the divisions or Leonards' or Hearns' and he shouldnt NOT be considered a great because of the time he's in.

Facts are this, he fought who he had to beat in the divisions and came up and fought everyone that people said would beat him. And I say unless there has been one opponent that 100 percent of people watching the event would say "Floyd is going to win this so easily" Then hush about how he hasn't fought anyone. There were people picking against him in his last 8 or so fights and he won. Nobody nowhere put 100 to none odds that Floyd would win. And most of the time it was because they wanted that "one punch" to land and when it doesn't they say that Floyd fought a nobody.

Floyd's era in this era Floyd has fought hte best the divisions had to offer.

People say Hatton the only name on his resume is Tszyu and when he went up to MAKE a fight with Mayweather he nearly got dethrowned by Collazo.

    Margarito is just getting annoying.

Baldomir was the Undisputed champ and regardless on how Floyd made him look the guy still beat Judah and stopped Gatti. And unless every person at the crowd and the betting tables was putting money on Floyd then they felt he would or could be beaten by Baldomir, and when he started dominating Baldomir so easily they got upset at Floyd.

    For what? WINNING!?!

You talk about his resume, but honestly people, why fault Floyd for not being around in an era that produced 10 or potential champs a weight class like in Leonard and Hearns' days?

Greatness is defined by 'great fights'.

Miguel Cotto has been in some barn storming fights - Torres was seat-of-your pants stuff.

Hatton again, has been fantastic to watch, blood guts & stitches.

Barrera - Naz and his awsome tear-ups with Morales where tremendous.

Tito - his thunderous stoppages and vulnerablity made him a PR legend.

But Mayweather? who is his foil? i'm sorry but a sluggish made-to-fit Baldomir is not / was not ever going to be a fight that got the juices flowing.

It just didn't have any 'heat' whatsoever - it was dull dull dull.

I'm not a hater - but i would love to see the silky skills against a Cotto or Hatton.

For me, his legacy is riddled with holes - he skipped the threats at 140 and has cherry-picked his fights at 147 to give himself maximum exposure.

It wouldn't suprise me to see a Spinks next at 154 - rather than tangle with a Mosley or a Margarito or even a Winky.

Hell i would love to see a technical-fight between Wright and Mayweather as it would be comparable style-wise...

    1. Hatton
    2. Cotto
    3. Mosley
    4. Wright
    5. Margarito

Ricky Hatton has stated in his Autobiog, that he would move up to 147 any day to face Floyd as he feels he has the beating of him and his 5'6 frame could take on a 5'8 fighter.

Just because someone is exciting doesn't mean they'd beat Floyd. They may be good to watch but Floyd doesn't care how he looks just to beat you. It looks like you're defining greatness by an exciting style. Hatton is exciting but against a boxer like Collazo Hatton is about toppled.

Fighters can be exciting when stuck in with a fighter who doesn't have teh style of Mayweather in and out boxing pinpoint potshoting. It takes more then being exciting to define a great fighter. Just because they are great to watch doesn't make them great. I think too many fans confuse greatness with excitement
