6,000 Guzman-TBA tix sold!

6,000 tickets have already been sold for undefeated WBO junior lightweight champion Joan Guzman's December 18 title defense at the Sports Palace in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. What was makes this all the more amazing is that one-third of the 18,000 available seats sold in their first week on sale even though the popular Guzman's challenger has not been named. Tickets, affordably priced at $50, $30 and $10, may be purchased through TicketMaster in the Dominican Republic. "We kept the prices reasonable because it is important to Guzman that the people in the barrios can afford to be in the house," manager Jose Nunez said today. "This is Guzman's early Christmas present to the people and to the country which gave so much to him. He has not forgotten that he came from a humble beginning in Guachapita."

Hope all this doesnt make him feel the need to do anything overimpressive and lose because of it.

One of the members posted earlier, he was fighting Antonio Davis.
If thats the case, if he can manage not to pass out, or fall asleep during the fight he'll win. Davis is a tomato can.
If hes lobbying for a fight with Pac, hes not going to turn many heads fighting this guy.
Its just a hometown fight for his fans. Personally, I think he could offer up something better than this guy

CC for the news Maj and I understand what you mean but I also feel when a fighter fights in front of his home town,he feels the need to impress and I think Guzman is just the same. I'd like to see land a ko,may be get his confidence in his power up. If he is to fight Manny, you HAVE to have power to keep him off, regardless of how skilled you are,you can't just use a jab and shoulder roll to keep him away. JMM is a SUPERB technician yet he got dropped 3 times! It was only aftter he shook Pac 3 or 4 times that he got his respect, made him more weary....
